SKILL- RELATED COMPONENT OF PHYSICAL FITNESS
This is referred to as performance-related fitness. It is based
on the neuromuscular system and determines how a person
can achieve and successfully perform a particular skill.
Factors of Skill-related Component:
1. Speed- is the maximum rate a person moves over a
specific distance. How fast a player runs toward the goal
shows his/her speed.
2. Agility- refers to the ability to change direction quickly.
Agility is shown in a game when a player is able to move
back and forth, left to right, while running, without being
interrupted.
3. Balance- is the ability to maintain an equilibrium in a
stationary body position or when moving. A good player or
dancer shows balance. Even if he/ she moves fast in
different directions he/ she does not slip or fall on the floor.
4. Power- refers to the ability to release maximum energy
in the shortest period of time. Imagine a basketball player,
with one second left, standing on half court, still managing
to shoot the ball on the goal. It shows power.
5. Reaction Time- is the time it takes to start moving
between a stimulus and reaction. It shows how fast you
react or respond to a stimulus. A stimulus is the thing that
makes you react.
6. Coordination (hand/eye or foot/eye)- is the ability of the
body to produce a smooth and fluid motion or a combination
of the hand and eye or foot and eye movements to perform
a task. Coordination is an important skill in sports or
dancing.
F. Developing GET FIT! BE PHYSICALLY FIT!
mastery/Leads to
Formative Wear an appropriate gear like a comfortable shirt and
Assessment jogging pants. Do warm-up exercises before executing the
skill–related components in physical fitness.

Warm Up: Neck, shoulder, arms, hips, toes and feet

rotation, marching, high knees, butt kicks, jumping jack and
stretching.

Instruction: Perform the following tasks

1. Hexagon Agility Test,

2. Alternative Hand Wall Toss Test, and
3. Stork Balance Stans Test)

After performing each task, rate your performance based on

the assessment table given after each task.

G. Generalization Let Us Remember Skill- Related Components of

Physical Fitness
 Skill-related component- this is referred to as performance
related fitness. Factors of Skill-related Component:

the hand and eye or foot and eye movements to perform a
task.
