DEVELOPMENT OF LESSON INTERVENTION

Session Guide Title – Strategies to Develop Learner’s Critical Thinking Skills

I. Greetings ( 2 minutes)
Good day everyone, I am RONALYN M. UROT. I will be facilitating the
session entitled “STRATEGIES THAT DEVELOP LEARNER’S CRITICAL
THINKING SKILLS

II. Introduction ( 5 minutes)

As a classroom teacher, we all know that engaging our learners to develop


their critical thinking skills is quite challenging and sometimes we really don’t
know where to start, I mean, it is not like a game where we can have an activity
in order for us to see if they understand what we’re teaching for them. Every day
we have our students commend, they can read and write.
Most of the time, there are some learners can read but can’t understand what
they read. As what G. M Trevelyan quoted, “ Education has produce a vast of
population able to read but unable to distinguish what worth reading.” So,
we need a variety of strategies and activities for us to be able to develop thinking
skills of our learners because not all students learn equally well when the same
strategies are employed.
The following slides will help us to improve the strong habits of our learners’
minds and to deepen their learning engagement

Objectives:
After this session, participants will be able to:

1. understand the importance of Critical Thinking Strategies for learning.


2. identify the Strategies to develop Critical Thinking Skills of the learners
3. demonstrate and apply the strategies to develop critical learning skills.
III. Time Allotment
A. Session: 7 hours and 27 minutes
B. Video: 50 minutes
IV. Materials
Manila Papers, metacards, cartolina, activity cards, markers, masking tape,
A. Power Point Presentation: Discussion on Characteristics of Critical Thinking Skills
B. PowerPoint Presentation: Strategies to Develop Critical Thinking Skills of the Learners
Reference: Google
C. Colored cartolina, markers, art materials, bond paper & printer, laptop, projector & ink

V. Procedure
A. Priming Activity: (30 mins.)
Activity #1: Create Graphic Organizer
1. Divide the participants into three groups.
Say: Create a graphic organizer that best describe about Critical Thinking Skills
Allow all the group members to present and discuss their answers.

Group Discussion:
1.What are the words that describe Critical Thinking Skills?
2.Did you find any similarities and differences in your answers?
3.How did you feel about sharing your ideas?
4.What new insights about Critical Thinking Skills did you discover or learn?

Activity #2: GUESS A PICTURE

1. With the same grouping, each group will be given 5 seconds to guess the
picture posted.
The group that gained the most number of correct answers will be
declared as the winning Team.

B. Analysis and Discussion ( 30 minutes) M
Ask the following questions to the participants:

1. How do you feel having these kind of activity? Why dou feel that way?
2. What have you noticed with the responses of the different groups? Are they
participated actively?
3. Will you apply this kind activity to your learners ? Why or Why not?

C. Abstraction ( 240 minutes)

Show the power point presentation of the Strategies to Develop Critical Thinking Skills of
the Learners and proceed with the discussion.
Say: There are key learning points on understanding the Strategies to Develop Critical
Learning Skills of our Learners
Show the power point presentation of each topic

1. The importance of Critical Thinking Strategies


2.Ways to to Develop Critical Thinking Skills
3. Types of Critical Questions
4. Suggested activities to improve learners Critical Thinking Skills.

VI. Application ( 80 minutes) CREATIVE OUPUT

A. Answer, Create and Innovate -5 minutes
