a and an with singular nouns

Remember: Words beginning with consonant letters do not always begin with consonant sounds.
In the same way, words starting with vowel letters may not begin with vowel sounds.
Example: Honorary (sounds like ‘-onorary’)
European (sounds like ‘yu-ropean’)

Take note of the sound at the beginning of a word when deciding whether to use the article a or an.
