A: Did you hear the news last night?
B: No, I didn’t. I was doing my homework at that time. Tell me about it.
A: Some workers found a mummy while they were working through a tunnel in Egypt.
B: It sounds interesting. How did they find it?
A: They saw a wooden box. They stopped working and looked. At first they thought it was a worker,
but they were wrong. They weren’t looking at the body of worker.

B: Was he carrying gold or silver tools? I heard Egyptians used to bury tools with the mummies.
A: Yes, he was carrying a gold axe and a silver bow. He was also carrying some gold coins.
B: All these things are too expensive and show that mummy was rich enough.

A: I live in a busy street so there’s always a lot happening outside my window.

B: what is happening at the moment?

A: I can see two boys riding bikes and there’s a woman going jogging and I can hear a boy playing
the guitar. Now you describe the scene from your bedroom window.

B: Well there’s a news agent opposite our house. There’s an old man buying a newspaper there. I
can see three girls getting off the bus.

A: What is the biggest cause of climate change?
B: There are so many reasons but I think deforestation is the most important one.
A: I agree too. The trees are cut down and the wood is taken away.
B: Greenhouse gases are another reason. They are released into atmosphere.
A: Unfortunately greenhouse gases are produced a lot these days.
A: So in that case the sun’s heat is trapped by these gases and gradually the world is getting
warmer.
B: That’s correct. Therefore the ice caps will be melted and the sea levels will be increased.
A: And many countries and islands will be disappeared by changing climate.
B: By the way, how are greenhouse gases produced?
A: They are produced when fossil fuels are burnt by factories, cars and planes.
B: We will also see extreme weather such as hurricanes, heavy rains, high temperatures and
drought

A: Hi. Welcome to our phone in program. Tonight we’re going to talk about parents and teenagers
problems.
B: Hello. I’m fifteen years old and my problem is that I want to stay out late. But my parents say
that I have to be home by nine o’clock.
A: Have you discussed it with your parents?
B: Yes, I have, but they just won’t listen. Nothing’s changed.

B: I think I’m old enough to make my own decisions.
A: But I think a calm discussion is always better than an argument.
