CIRCLES HW2
Class 10 - Mathematics
Time Allowed: 1 hour Maximum Marks: 100

1. In Figure, two concentric circles are drawn with centre O. PQ and RS are two chords of the larger circle which [5]
are tangents to the smaller circle. Prove that PQ = RS.

2. In the adjoining figure, a circle is inscribed in a quadrilateral ABCD in which ∠B = 90°. If AD = 23 cm, AB = [5]
29 cm, and DS = 5 cm, find the radius (r) of the circle.

3. In Fig., if a circle touches the side QR of △PQR at S and extended sides PQ and PR at M and N, respectively, [5]
then prove that PM = 1

2
(PQ + QR + PR)

4. In the figure, AB is diameter of a circle with centre O and QC is a tangent to the circle at C. If ∠ CAB = 30°, [5]
find ∠ CQA and ∠ CBA.

5. In figure, O is the centre of the circle and TP is the tangent to the circle from an external point T. If ∠ PBT = 30°, [5]
prove that BA : AT = 2:1.

6. AB is a chord of length 24 cm of a circle of radius 13 cm. The tangents at A and B intersect at a point M. Find [5]
the length AM.
7. Two circles with centres O and O' of radii 3 cm and 4 cm, respectively intersect at two points P and Q such that [5]
OP and O'P are tangents to the two circles. Find the length of the common chord PQ.
8. AB is a diameter and AC is chord of a circle with centre O such that ∠BAC = 30°. The tangent at C intersects [5]
extended AB at a point D. Prove that BC = BD.
9. QR is the tangent to the circle whose centre is P. If QA || RP and AB is the diameter, prove that RB is a tangent [5]
to the circle.
10. The common tangents AB and CD to two circles with centres O and O' intersect at E. Prove that points O, E and [5]
O' are collinear

11. In Figure, the tangent l is parallel to the tangent m drawn at points A and B respectively to a circle centred at O. [5]
PQ is a tangent to the circle at R. Prove that ∠ POQ = 90o.

12. In figure AB and CD are two parallel tangents to a circle with centre O. ST is tangent segment between the two [5]
parallel tangents touching the circle at Q. Show that ∠ SOT = 90o

13. In Figure, CD is a tangent and AB is a diameter of the circle centred at O. If ∠ DCB = 20o, then find m ∠ ADC. [5]

14. In the given figure, TBP and TCQ are tangents to the circle whose centre is O. Also ∠ PBA = 60o and ∠ ACQ = [5]

70o. Determine ∠ BAC and ∠ BTC.

16. In Figure, quadrilateral ABCD circumscribes a circle centred at O. Prove that AD + BC = AB + CD. [5]

17. Prove that the tangent drawn at the mid-point of an arc of a circle is parallel to the chord joining the end points [5]
of the arc.
18. In Figure, PQ and LM are two parallel tangents to a circle with centre O and another tangent AB with point of [5]
contact C intersecting PQ at A and LM at B. Prove that ∠ AOB = 90o.

19. In the given figure, AB is the diameter of a circle with centre O and AT is a tangent. If ∠AOQ = 58°, find [5]
∠AT Q .

20. Prove that opposite sides of a quadrilateral circumscribing a circle subtend supplementary angles at the centre of [5]
the circle.
