NAT (Network Address Translation) is a method of remapping one IP address space
into another by modifying network address information in Internet Protocol (IP)
datagram packet headers while they are in transit across a traffic routing device.
In simple words, NAT is used to translate Private IP address into Public address.
Why do we require NAT?
Private IPs are not globally unique, and not routable to public cloud (INTERNET), So whenever Private IP establishes communication with Public we need translation.
Another benefit of applying NAT is to secure Private Network to the outside world.
Three Types of NAT
1. Static NAT (one to one) : is a technique of one to one IP mapping manually. 2. Dynamic NAT (many to many) : is a technique to MAP private IPs into public IPs automatically (using a defined pool of public IPs). 3. Dynamic PAT (many to one) : is technique to map multiple private IPs into one Public IP. (many to one)
