1. The taxi fare in a city is as follows. For the first kilometre, the fare is `8, for the subsequent

10. In parallelogram ABCD, AB = 10 cm. The altitudes corresponding to the sides AB and AD
are respectively 7 cm and 8 cm. Find AB.
11. Two concentric circles with centre O have A, B, C, D as the points of intersection with the
line 'l' as shown in the figure. If AD = 12 cm and BC = 8 cm, find the lengths of AB, CD, AC
and BD.
12. An isosceles triangle has perimeter 30 cm and each of the equal sides is 12cm. Find the area
of the triangle.
13. Find the median of the following data 19, 25, 59, 48, 35, 31, 30, 32, 51. If 25 is replaced by
52, what will be the new median?
14. In a cricket match, a batsman hits a boundary 8 times out of 40 balls he plays. Find the
probability he did not hit a boundary.

15. For what values of 'a' is 2x3 + ax2 + 11x + a + 3 is exactly divisible by 2x – 1?
16. In the given figure, two straight lines PQ & RS intersect each other at O. If ∠ POT = 75°,
find the values of a, b and c.
17. If two chords of a circle are equally inclined to the diameter through their point of
intersection, prove that chords are equal.
18. Construct a triangle ABC in which AB = 5.8 cm, BC + CA = 8.4 cm and B = 60°.
19. The lateral surface area of cylinder is equal to the curved surface area of a cone. If the
radius be the same, find the ratio of the height of the cylinder and slant height of the cone.

Form the grouped frequency table by dividing the variable range into intervals of equal width,
each corresponding to 20gms in such a way that the mid-value of the first class corresponds
to 70gms.
23. Examine the graph below carefully and answer the following questions. The graph depicts

24. The diagonals of a quadrilateral ABCD are perpendicular to each other. Show that the
quadrilateral formed by joining mid points of its sides is a rectangle.

25. The breadth of a rectangular garden is of its length. If its perimeter is 40 m, find its

27. Prove that angle bisectors of a cyclic quadrilateral form another cyclic quadrilateral.

31. An organisation selected 2400 families at random and surveyed them to determine a
relationship between income level and the number of vehicles in a family. The information
gathered is listed in the table below:
Suppose a family is chosen. Find the probability that the family has chosen is
(i) Earning `10000 - 13000 per month and owning exactly 2 vehicles.
(ii) Earning 16000 or more per month and owning exactly 1 vehicle.
(iii) Earning less than `7000 per month and does not own any vehicle.
(iv) Earning `13000 – 16000 per month and owning more than 2 vehicles.
(v) Owning not more than 1 vehicle.

32. A field is in the shape of a trapezium whose parallel sides are 25 m and 10 m. The
non-parallel sides are 14 m and 13 m. Find the area of the field.
33. Prove that the angle subtended by an arc at the centre is double the angle subtended by it at
any point on the remaining part of the circle.
34. Show that the segment joining the mid points of a pair of opposite sides of a parallelogram,
divides it into two equal parallelograms.
