Section B Subjective Type Questions

1. Answer below questions in 20-30 words 3 x 2M = 6M

i) Briefly describe the elements in a communication cycle.

<Full marks if any four are listed and described>

Ans: Elements in a communication cycle are as follows
1. Sender: the person starting the communication
2. Message: the information that the sender wishes to convey
3. Encoding: how the sender chooses to bring the message into
a form appropriate for sending
4. Channel: the means by which the message is sent
5. Receiver: the person to whom the message is sent.
6. Decoding: how the receiver interprets and understands the
message.
7. Feedback: the receiver's response to the message

ii) Saksham is an ambitious student. He wants to lead a successful and meaningful

life. He needs to develop self-management skills in order to accomplish his goals.
Help him learn about any two self-management skills.

<Full marks if any two are listed and described>

Ans:
1. Self Confidence: It refers to trusting one's capabilities and potentialities to
achieve the necessary goals, objectives and challenges in life and being worthy
of leading a happy life.
2. Stress Management It refers to a state of psychological tension and
discomfort originating from unforeseen, difficult, confusing and challenging
situations.
3. Independent Working This typically means when an individual is assigned a
task(s), he/she takes ownership and doesn't require constant assistance or
supervision to complete that task(s).
4. Team Player A person who conforms well with norms of a team and
contributes to the attainment of the common goals in an efficient and effective
way is called a team player.
5. Time Management It is a conscious effort to prioritise tasks according to the
time at hand to increase productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
6. Self-Motivation Motivation is defined as a driving force responsible to do
something. The students who are motivated to achieve their academic goal, their
future is much better than others.

iii) What is Application Software? What are the two types of Application software?

<1 mark for definition and 1 mark for mentioning the types>
Ans Application software is a computer program that is designed to perform a
certain type of work. This type of software pertains to one specific application.
Application software can be classified as General purpose software and Specific
purpose application software.

2. Answer below questions in 20-30 words 4 x 2M = 8M

i) Discuss Evaluation stage in AI Project Cycle.

Ans: Evaluation is the process of understanding the reliability of any AI model,

based on the output by feeding the test dataset into the model and comparing
with the actual answers. It is recommended to use different data than the one
which was used to train the model.

ii) Mention two Dos and two Don'ts for Cyber Security.

<Any two from each below>

Dos

1. Use strong, unique passwords with a mix of characters for

each account.
2. Download software from trusted sources and scan files
before opening.
3. Prioritise websites with "https://" for secure logins.
4. Always lock your screen when away.
5. Connect only with trusted individuals online.
6. Report online bullying to a trusted adult immediately.

Donts

1. Avoid sharing personal info like real name or phone

number.
2. Don't open emails or attachments from unknown sources.
3. Ignore suspicious requests for personal info like bank
account details.
4. Don't copy copyrighted software without permission.

iii) Differentiate between Textual and Numerical Data.

Ans:

Textual Data Numerical Data

Consist of alphabets. The data is Consist of numbers. The data is

descriptive and interpretation based countable/measurable

This is known as Qualitative data This is known as Quantitative data

This is used in NLP This is used in Data Science

iv) Define Computer Vision domain and give two AI based applications belonging to
this domain.

<1 mark for definition 1 mark for 2 applications>

Ans: Computer Vision is an AI domain which works with images and videos
enabling the machine to interpret and understand visual information. AI
applications in this domain are: Face recognition, Fingerprint recognition, Image
search and Self driven Cars.

3. Answer below questions in 50-80 words 3 x 4M = 12M

i) Define the terms AI, ML and DL. Discuss their relationship and depict the same
using venn diagram.

<1 mark each for definitions and 1 mark for defining relationship and figure>
Ans:
Artificial intelligence refers to any technique that enables computers to mimic
human intelligence. An artificially intelligent machine works on algorithms and
data fed to it to give the desired output.

Machine Learning enables machines to learn from the new data fed to it while
testing and use it for the next iteration. The machine here also considers the
exceptions it encountered.

Deep Learning or DL for short, enables software to train itself when provided
with huge amounts of data with the help of machine learning algorithms working
together to perform a specific task. Deep Learning Algorithms are based on highly
complex neural networks.

Relationship: AI is the umbrella term which holds both DL as well as ML. DL,
whereas, is a very specific learning approach which is a subset of ML.
ii) Mamta is working on a project about women safety in the workplace. After
defining the problem statement she is now gathering data from various sources
like - interviews, surveys, web articles and government records. What ethical
consideration would you suggest she should make during her data acquisition
process?

<1 mark for each ethical concern mentioned and described(max 4)>
Ans: Following ethical considerations should be made during data acquisition:
Bias: We should avoid any preference or partiality in the data we collect.

Consent: We must take permission before collecting any private or personal data

Transparency: We should never hide our intentions while collecting data.

Anonymity: We must protect the identity of the source of data we collected to

ensure privacy.

Accountability: We must take responsibility for protecting the data. In case of

any breach, any loss needs to be compensated by us.

iii) What is Data Literacy? Why is Data Literacy essential? State the impact of Data
Literacy in various aspects of our society.

<1 mark for definition, 1 mark for importance and 2 marks for impact>
Ans: Data Literacy is the ability to explore, understand, work with and present
data in a meaningful manner. It is essential because it allows individuals to make
informed decisions, think critically, solve problems and innovate. Data literacy has
great impact on various aspects of society like:

Business: Data literate employee can make informed decisions by effectively

analysing the market data

Education: It empowers the teaching learning process.

Healthcare: Data is used to improve diagnostics, treatment plans and patient

monitoring.
Public Policy: Policymakers can use data to design, implement and evaluate
policies more effectively.
