This Report is designed to give you an idea of the careers which suit you and your temperament as of now. We have also
given you snapshots of different career fields and their compatibility with your present result. This is to help put careers in
perspective for you. The aim is to give you clarity on careers which are most suited to your aptitude, personality and interest.
We believe that interest sustains excellence throughout life. We are hopeful that the suggestions and information provided to
you in this analytical assessment proves to be a powerful ally in your career decision.
The goal of modern education is to ensure students are independent problem solvers with collaborative skills. With
unidimensional fields of careers almost a thing of the past, playing on intrinsic skills is not a choice anymore; it is crucial.
Thus, a clarity on aptitude and personality becomes imperative as does the interest level – for sustainability of career path.
The Extramarks Career Assessment Program ( Test + Counseling ) has been developed by the in-house experts for
precisely this reason: to shine a light on the path which has the possibilities of greatness tailored just for you.
The 3 pillars of career planning are what you get tested upon:

Aptitude tests measure a broad spectrum of abilities (e.g., verbal comprehension, numerical operations or mechanical
knowledge). The aim of the multi-aptitude batteries is to obtain information about an array of cognitive and motor skills. This
in turn allows comparisons of your relative strengths and weaknesses.
The Graph below is reflective of the abilities you possess as of today. Do keep in mind that these will change dependent on
how bound and determined you are to work upon improvement.

Description of Various Aptitude and Abilities
Verbal Ability:
VR refers to the ease in understanding and using Written as well as Spoken English. This ability
helps an individual to examine carefully and solve problems using language based reasoning. It has
been considered by psychologist through ages to be one of the most important human abilities to
possess. The reason for including VA in this battery is that VA is important in occupations, which
involve reading and writing. In the present test, VA has been divided mainly on two sections. VA
Part 1 includes word-meaning exercises, which assess the subject ability to generalize and
correlate relationship among words. VA Part 2 is based on knowledge of proverbs and their
application in everyday life.
Perceptual Speed:
Perceptual Speed refers to the ability through which an individual could perceive stimuli quickly and
accurately. High In the present test, perceptual speed and accuracy are measured by items in
which subject is required to match and assess the similarity and difference of paired group of letters
or numbers. Thus it is fairly obvious that this ability has high vocational value in those tasks which
require a keen attention to details such as record maintenance, coding and dispatching, stocking
etc.
Numerical Ability:
Numerical ability consists of comprehending fundamental mathematics like addition, subtraction;
fraction, multiplication, division, etc. Problems, which have been included in this numerical ability
test, are not very tough or difficult but they have to be solved in limited time with increasing level of
difficulty. Combination of VA and NA is good indicator of general learning ability. There are many
vocations/professions which require adequate level of numerical ability such as mathematician,
physicist actuary, risk analyst, financial analyst, engineering, architect and many more.
Spatial Ability:
Spatial ability may be defined as the capacity to understand and mentally manipulate 2-
dimensional, 3-dimensional and 4-dimensional figures. In the present test, subject is required to
change the object by rotating or to change the relative sequence of images mentally – mainly in
three dimensions, thus involving higher level of visualization. One must be able to determine quickly
(within specific time) whether the figures have been rotated or reversed. High level of SA is linked to
creativity not only in arts but in science and other technology based fields as well.

Description of Various Aptitude and Abilities
Mechanical Ability:
Mechanical ability refers to the knowledge of mechanical concepts. This includes use of tools,
reading rulers and gauges, proper lifting techniques, mechanical movements, assembly and
electrical concepts. Some of the common topics covered in mechanical ability tests include
questions about how mechanical items work. Items in the present test address mainly the
principles and knowledge of electricity and mechanical reasoning. Mechanical ability does not only
measure particular ability, it may also measure the interest someone has in this type of work.
Abstract Reasoning:
Abstract reasoning mainly refers to the ability to examine information, detect different patterns and
relationships, as well as to solve problems on a complex, intangible level. Items in this test are
visual and pictorial. In each instance student must discover the common pattern, which is
responsible for the change of figures. They then need to give evidence of their understanding by
identifying the diagram which should logically follow. If AR scores are clubbed with other ability
scores such as numerical, verbal or mechanical, it will provide with good indication of success or
failure in to fields related to these abilities.
