General Instructions:
1.This question paper contains 38 questions. This Question Paper is divided into 5 Sections A,
B, C, D and E.
2. In Section A, Questions no. 1-18 are multiple choice questions (MCQs) and questions no.
19 and 20 are Assertion- Reason based questions of 1 mark each.
3. In Section B, Questions no. 21-25 are very short answer (VSA) type questions, carrying 02
marks each.
4. In Section C, Questions no. 26-31 are short answer (SA) type questions, carrying 03 marks
each.
5. In Section D, Questions no. 32-35 are long answer (LA) type questions, carrying 05 marks
each.
6. In Section E, Questions no. 36-38 are case study based questions carrying 4 marks each with
sub parts of the values of 1, 1 and 2 marks each respectively.
7. All Questions are compulsory.
8. However, an internal choice in 2 Questions of section B, 2 Questions of section C and 2
Questions of section D has been provided and internal choice has been provided in all the
2 marks questions of Section E.

23 The length of the minute hand of a clock is 7 cm. Find the area swept by the minute hand in 2

hand in 5 minutes.

SECTION - D(4 X 5 = 20)

32 A plane left 30 minutes late than its scheduled time and in order to reach the destination 5
1500 km away in time, it had to increase its speed by 100 km/h from the usual speed. Find its
usual speed.
OR
A train, traveling at a uniform speed for 360 km, would have taken 48 minutes less to travel
the same distance if its speed were 5km/h more. Find the original speed of the train.

33 State and prove Basic Proportionality (Thales) Theorem.

34 A solid toy is in the form of a hemisphere surmounted by a right circular cone. The height of 5
the cone is 2 cm and the diameter of the base is 4 cm. Determine the volume of the toy. If a
right circular cylinder circumscribes the toy, find the volumes of the cylinder .
(Take π = 3.14)
OR
The cost of painting the total outside surface of a closed cylindrical oil tank at 60 paise sq. m
is Rs 237.60 and the height of the tank is 6 times the radius of the base of the tank.
(Take π = 22/7)
(i) Find the height of the tank.
(ii) Also find the radius of the tank.

35 Following distribution gives the marks scored by a class of 200 students. If the median of 5
given data is 32, find x and y.

36 Your elder brother wants to buy a car and plans to take a loan from a bank for his car. He
repays his total loan of Rs 1,18,000 by paying every month starting with the first installment
of Rs 1000. If he increases the installment by Rs 100 every month, answer the following:
(i) If total installments are 40 then what is the amount paid in the last installment? 1+
(ii) Find the ratio of the 1st installment to the last installment. 1+
(iii)What is the amount paid by him in all 30 installments? 2
OR
(iii) What is the amount paid by him in all 20 installments?

37 Two boats A and B are approaching a lighthouse CD in mid sea from opposite directions.
The angles of elevation of the top of the lighthouse from boats A and B are 45⁰ and 30⁰
respectively. 1+
(i) if length of AD is 90 m, then find length of CD. 1+
(ii) if the length of CD is 60 m then find the length of DB. 2
(iii) if the distance between the two boats is 100 m, then find the height of the lighthouse.
OR
(iii)if the distance between the two boats is 50 m, then find the height of the lighthouse.
38 Three friends are standing at point A, B and C. Look at the figure below:
(i) Find the distance between A and B. 1+
(ii) Find the distance between B and C . 1+
(iii) Find the distance between A and C. Which type of triangle is formed by A,B and C . 2
OR
(iii) Find the perimeter of triangle ABC.
