THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
Introduction
- Background information about your study
- General objectives/ aims
- Include 2-3 studies to support your claims
- Purpose of the study
- Why is there a need to conduct the study?
Statement of the problem
- General problem
Example:
The study aimed to determine the peer tutoring and its effect on reading fluency
of Grade 11 students of Academic Senior High school of ACLC Naga.
- Specific problem
Example:
Specifically, it aims to answer the following questions:
1. What is the socio-demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:
1.1. Age,
1.2. Gender
2. What is the level of…
Scope and Delimitation of the study
- Introductory statement
- Coverage of your study
- Target respondents/participants
- Timeframe
- Delimitations
Significance of the study
- Introductory statement
- Contributions of your study to your benefactors
- Most benefited to least benefited.
- Enumerated but in a paragraph form
Example:
To the students.
To the teachers.
To the future researchers.
Theoretical framework
- 3 theories (1 core, 2 support)
- Consist of 5 paragraphs
Paragraph 1: introductory statement
Paragraph 2- 4: theories
Example
Theory of relativity (1987) proposed by Albert Einstein. It states that…
Paragraph 5: conclusion- What is the relevance of your theories to your study?
Conceptual framework

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
Introductory statement
Review of related literature
Foreign literature
Local literature
Synthesis
Note:
- This is REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
- It shows previous researchers have discovered.
- It is usually quite long and primarily depend upon how
much research has previously been done in the area you
are planning to investigate.
- If you are planning to explore a relatively new area,
the literature review should cite similar areas of
study or studies that lead up to the current research.
Never say that your area is new that no research
exists. It is one of the key elements that proposal
readers look at when deciding whether or not to
approve a proposal.
- It should also contain a definition of terms section
when APPROPRIATE. Include it if your paper uses a
special terms that are unique to your field of inquiry
or that might not be understood by the general reader.
“Operational Definitions” (definitions that you have
formulated for the study) should also be included.
- Related Literature and Studies: 10 local & 10 Foreign
(at least 10 years recent)
- Use APA CITATIONS (Refer to Research Format Doc.)
- Don’t forget the SYNTHESIS
- Referencing style: APA
- Ways of citing:
by author/writer
example:
According to Felipe (2015) …
by topic
example:
It has been found out that…… (Felipe, 2015)
by chronology
according to the year, the literature was written- from earliest to the latest

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
(EXAMPLE OF THE RESEARCH METHODOLOGY)
This chapter presents and discusses the method that will be used in the
study, the population and sampling technique, the research instrument, the data
gathering procedure, the data processing and the statistical treatment of data.
Research Design
information is needed from people who are directly experiencing the phenomenon
being studied, such as when time and resources are scarce, a descriptive research
design is appropriate.
Brgy. Officials/Tanod within the selected barangay and selected PNP Personnel
a. Households 25 50%
b. Brgy. 20 40%
Officials/Tanod
TOTAL 50 100
Research Locale
The subject of this study are the household individual, barangay officials
and the PNP personnel inside the municipality of Ocampo, Camarines Sur. It is
In the beginning, the researcher would create their own questionnaires and work
with the barangay captain via a letter of communication that has been accepted
and validated by the research consultant. Second, upon the approval the
researcher will ask permission from the Barangay captain to survey their barangay
interview with PNP personnel. Lastly, the researcher retrieved and tallied the
Research Instruments
There are three data-gathering tools to be used. These were questionnaire,

Page Layout
Left margin: 1 ½ or 1.5 inch
Right, top and bottom margin: 1 inch
Page Numbering
Pages are numbered at the top right.
Numeric page numbering begins with first page of Chapter 1 (although a page
number is not paced on page 1)
Reference
APA format should be used to cite references within the paper.
If you name the author in your sentence, then follow the authors name with the
year in parentheses. Example: Jones (2004) found that…
If you do not include the authors name as part of the text, then both the author’s
name and year are enclosed in parentheses. Example: One researcher (Jones,
2004) found that…
A complete bibliography is attached at the end of the paper. It is doubled spaced
except single- spacing is used for a multiple- line reference. The first line of each
reference is indented.
Appendix
An appendix should be topically independent of the other appendices. An
appendix should be labeled and, if necessary, separated from other appendices by
a single sheet of paper. Ordinarily, an appendix should not have footnote
(documentation can be inserted into the text).
The word “Appendix” should be placed in the center, written in capital letters,
