Rules and Regulations

(Please read these rules and regulation carefully)
1. Please fill in your FULL name correctly, IC No, school name, class, and the date and time of contest
clearly on the answer on the second page of this booklet. Those who do not fill in the required
particulars will be disqualified automatically.
2. Do not open the question booklet until you are told to do so. You may only use 2B pencils when
answering the questions.
3. No calculators and any unauthorized electronic devices (including mobile phones) are allowed during
the contest.
4. Strict silence must be observed at all times in the examination hall and please be reminded that you
MAY NOT leave your seat without permission.
5. If you have any requests or inquiries, please raise your hand and wait for an invigilator.
6. Only one candidate is allowed to leave the hall at a time. You are required to return to the hall within
10 minutes or else you will automatically be disqualified from the contest.
7. Each question in the contest has been verified by experienced trainers, thus no further explanation will
be given.
8. The time allowed for the paper is 90 minutes. You must stop writing when you are told to do so.
9. You MUST fill in your answer in the answer sheet provided on the second page of the question booklet.
You will not be awarded marks for any answer written in the question booklet.
10. Please be reminded that this is a contest and not an examination, do not expect to answer all types of
questions.
11. Please tear off the answer sheet carefully and returned it to the invigilator along with the contest
paper. Participants only can take back the contest papers after two weeks.
12. Please be reminded that if the contestants can’t attend the contest, we don’t accept any
replacement contestants. If found any, the contestant will be disqualified automatically.

Scoring System
1. For Question 1- 10, 3 marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
For Question 11- 20, 4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
For Question 21- 25, 6 marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
However, you will NOT be penalized for each incorrect answer.
2. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify the event of malpractice to differentiate between those
outstanding students.
3. Contestants or a team who are disqualified from the contest will be forfeited any right to re-sit this
year.

7. The figure shows a rectangle. The area of the triangle in the figure is 8. Point A and B are
the midpoint of the length and width of the triangle respectively. Please determine the
shaded area.

8. A number subtracted by 6, multiplied by 5, added by 4, and divided by 3 equals 8. What

is this number?

9. If it takes 4 people 1 hour to eat one cake, how long would it take to finish the cake if one
more person is added? (Give your answer in minute.)

10. There are 13 fish in the small fish tank, and the number of fish in the large fish tank is three
times that of the small fish tank. Please find the difference in the number of fish between
the large and small fish tank.

11. ABCD+ACD+CD=1668. Please find the sum of A, B, C, D.

are worth RM452 in total, computer B and computer C are worth RM459 in total, and
computer A and computer C are worth RM467 in total. Please tell Mr. Huang how much
the cheapest computer is.

19. A rectangle’s length and width are both increased by 4 cm, then its’ areas increased 54
cm2. What is the perimeter of the original rectangle?

20. Zhang Hua wants to buy 11 apples and 2 durians. Zhang Hua spent a total of RM79. It is
known that the price of durian is eight times that of apples and less RM1. How much did
Zhang Hua spend for the apples?

21. First cut the largest square on a piece of rectangular paper with a length of 30 cm and a
width of 17 cm, then cut the largest square on the remaining paper, and then cut the
largest square on the remaining paper again. What is the area of the remaining paper?

22. The 3 vendors have to assign food for employees. Vendor A has 3 different dishes,
Vendor B has 2 different dishes, and Vendor C has 4 different dishes. Assuming that
each employee can only take one dish from any two vendors, how many combinations of
food are there in total?
