Proposed projects 2024

1. Smart Vehicle Headlight Auto Switching and Intensity Control

Project Concept Description

Vehicle headlights are a key part of a vehicle that serves the purpose of lighting up the road ahead of the
vehicle. While there have been several modifications in smart cars, the headlights have not seen much
technological changes.

The problems with headlights is

 Sometimes users forget to switch on the lights before starting the car at night, which can lead to
accidents.
 At times users forget to turn off headlights during day time consuming unnecessary battery.
 Also users sometime forget to turn off headlight before leaving car which drains the entire car battery.
 Vehicle headlights usually glow at full intensity then turned on consuming max power.
Well we here develop smart vehicle headlights that not just start automatically as soon as sun goes down but
also adjusts light intensity as per required brightness to save power.
This system provides the following advantages

 No manual switching on/off lights

 Lights operated as per outer intensity to save power
 Lights turned off automatically if engine is off but lights on for over 5 minutes
The system makes use of a light sensor, ignition key, LED panel (to demonstrate led panel headlight) all
controller by an STM 32 based controller to achieve the desired output.
User first needs to start the ignition to start the system. On ignition start the system starts up and the
controller monitors the light sensor to monitor environmental light conditions. If the lighting is below certain
threshold, the system starts the LED panel.

Once started the system continuously monitors the external lighting level and adjusts the brightness of led
panel using mosfet driver to glow LED’s at enough intensity so as to achieve desired illumination while saving
unnecessary energy.

The controller automatically turns off the headlights as soon as external lighting conditions improve and
lighting improves above certain threshold. The controller automatically handles lighting as per environmental
conditions as long as ignition is on. When the ignition is turned off, the controller waits for 5 minutes and
automatically turns off the headlights to avoid battery drain, in case user forgot to turn them off.

2. Zigbee based Wireless Home Security System

Project Concept Description
Home Security has become an important issue everywhere. Safety from theft is the most
important requirement of home security systems for people. The growing crime number across
cities reflects the sour reality. Many people overlook, ignore, and underestimate the necessity
for taking appropriate home security measures. Home security system gives extra peace of mind
and security in everybody’s house while they are sleeping or even away from their home. The
best home security system makes life safer and more comfortable. In this system, people will
get all updates in their absence. This project comprises of two circuits, a transmitter part as well
as a receiver part. The transmitter consists of three PIRs to indicate motion in three locations, a
proximity sensor to detect whether the window is opened or closed, a temperature sensor to
get the current temperature, an LCD to display the parameters and a ZigBee module. Zigbee is a
low cost, low power, wireless mesh network standard and delivers low latency communication.
The receiver circuit consists of a receiving Zigbee module, an LCD, and a GSM module for
notifications. The communication between the two circuits is done by ZigBee Module.
Whenever there is motion in any of the locations or an alert of the window getting open then a
notification is sent to the registered user. And a bulb to turn on if the temperature goes down.

3. Stop and Go Queue Entry Manager System

Project Concept Description
We usually end up waiting in queues at various places, from passport renewals to shopping
malls. Managing queues can be a tough task at places where queues move slowly like security
check queue. A separate person needs to be deployed to ask a person to go and the next person
to stop and wait his/her turn.
Well we here automate this task by developing a system that automates this task using Led
display and electronics controller circuitry. The system is designed to automatically handle
queues without needing a separate person to ask people next in line to stop or Go.
The Stop can Go System provides the following advantages:

4. Automatic Person Detection

Project Concept Description
LED display for Stopping and Go Indication with Buzzer
Red Color Stop and Green Colored Go Indicator LED
The system is made using an STM32 controller along with an Ultrasonic sensor for person
detection, RGB LED display for displaying STOP/GO, a keypad for operating the indication and a
buzzer with some electronics components and PCB board. The system when turned on allows
the admin or queue manager person to operate the system using keypad. The person has access
to button near him. Once the admin has cleared the current person to go he presses the go
button.

The system now displays go on the LED display in Green and monitors ultrasonic sensor. As soon
as 1 person has passed in front of the sensor, it instantly shows stop display in red so that only
one person is allowed and next person stops. This system repeats each time the button is
pressed by the admin. These automates the entire stop and go process in queues and has a lot
of applications.

5. GPS Vehicle Tracking & Theft Detection

Project Concept Description
The project proposes a GPS based vehicle tracking system that tracks the vehicle and sends the
tracking data over through a sms. The microcontroller acts as the controlling head of the system.
When the system goes in Theft mode the authorized user gets the alert message and user will
Able to stop the vehicle engine immediately via sending sms to system With ‘S’ Keyword. The
system includes a GPS modem that tracks the vehicle location in the form of latitude and
longitude. This location can be accessed via sms that is being sent to the user. With the help
latitude and longitude information SMS user will able to locate vehicle with Google map. This
system proves very beneficial for transport and travel companies as they can now keep track of
their vehicles.
6. Machine Overheat Detection With Alert
Project Concept Description
This proposed system is used to detect temperature of devices that are overheated. This project
is very beneficial especially in places like factories or industries consisting of big machines where
it is very necessary to take some action in case the machine is overheated. The system uses a
digital temperature sensor in order to detect temperature and pass on the data to the
microcontroller. The 8051 microcontroller processes data and sends the temperature to be
displayed on LCD screen. The display consists of 7 segment display unit to display up to 3
numbers. It consists of 4 push buttons for setting the high and low temperatures. Pressing set
button allows user to increment and decrement the temperature of the system. The system
uses 12V transformer to supply power to the system. We can set a limit to the temperature and
in case if the system exceeds the temperature limit, an alarm rings to indicate that the system
has exceeded the set temperature
7. Automatic Motorized Bench Vise
Vise is commonly used industrial machine tor gripping work. It plays a major part in fabrication
work and is frequently used. We propose a motor operated bench vise which can tighten up to
hold the work piece (as well as loosen up) by just pressing the switch. It is a motorized vice
which reduces our time and effort in its operation. The power screw mechanism is employed in
this design to lower the efforts required. The Motor is coupled to lead screw of bench vise via
universal joint. A control switch is used to control the direction of rotation of motor shaft as per
the workers requirement
8. Finger Print Voting System
Project Concept Description
One of the major factors to be taken care of in a voting process is authentication and
authorization of voters. Many conditions need to be checked to ensure these factors. Major
conditions include:
1. Check authenticity of voter
2. Authorize legitimate voters to vote
3. Avoid double vote casting by any individual
Checking if all these conditions manually is a very complicated and exhausting task with many
chances of human error. To avoid this we here propose a fingerprint based voting system
project. We use a fingerprint module interfaced with microcontroller and an LCD screen in this
system. The fingerprint module is used to sense fingerprints and provide to microcontroller for
further processing. The system has list of eligible voters in it, the voting system tallies the
recognized finger print against the ones stored in database. If match is found that person is
allowed to vote. Once a vote is casted by that person his id is rolled out for that voting process.
This avoids double vote casting. Thus our system provides for a fully automated voting system
with finger print based authentication.
