PRE-BOARD 2 EXAMINATION (2024-25)

SUBJECT- MATHEMATICS(041) – SET A

TIME: 3 hours Maximum Marks: 80

General Instructions
(i) Question paper comprises five Sections – A, B, C, D and E. There are 38 questions
in the question paper. All questions are compulsory.
(ii) Section A – Question 1 to 20 are MCQs of 1 mark each.
(iii) Section B – Question no. 21 to 25 are Very Short Answer Type Questions,
carrying 2 marks each.
(iv) Section C - Question no 26 to 31 are Short Answer Type Questions Type
Questions, carrying 3 marks each.
(v) Section D – Question no 32 to 35 are Long Answer Type Questions, carrying 5
marks each.
(vi) Section-E – Question no 36 to 38 are 3 source based /case based/passage based
questions of 4 marks each with subparts

(vii) There is no overall choice in the question paper. However, an internal choice
has been provided in few questions. Only one of the choices in such questions have
to be attempted.

Q36. Case-Study 1: A particle is moving along the curve represented by the polynomial
𝑓(𝑥) = (𝑥 − 1)(𝑥 − 2) , as shown in the figure given below:

Based on the above information, answer the following questions:


(i) What are the critical point of the polynomial 𝑓(𝑥)
(ii) What is the point of local maximum of 𝑓(𝑥) = (𝑥 − 1)(𝑥 − 2) ?

Q37. Case-Study 2: A doctor is to visit a patient. From the past experience, it is known
that the probabilities that he will come by cab,metro, bike or by other means of
transport are respectively 0.3, 0.2, 0.1 and 0.4. The probabilities that he will be late

Q38. Case-Study 3: A telephone company in a town has 5000 subscribers on its list and
collects fixed charges of 𝑅𝑠. 3000 per subscriber. The company proposes to increase the
annual subscription and it is believed that every increase of Rs. 1 one subscriber will
discontinue the service.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions :

(i) Find the revenue function.

(ii) Find the value of x for which will be 0 , where z is the revenue
function.

(iii) Find the value of x for which is positive.
