THE ULTIMATE PROMPT FORMULA

The Ultimate Prompt Formula

The ultimate prompt formula is a simple yet powerful

structure you can use to craft a plethora of useful
prompts. You’ll find it beneficial in most situations where
you need to extract detailed and relevant responses from
an AI.
This formula consists of six key ingredients:

1. Awareness
2. Role
3. Action
4. Context
5. Examples
6. Constraints + Formatting
Understanding each of these ingredients is crucial for
writing effective prompts. Let’s get into each one,
exploring its importance and providing multiple
examples.

PART ONE: AWARENESS

1. Awareness
Awareness involves having a clear understanding of the
problem or task at hand and the intended outcome. It is
the foundational step to ensure your prompt is well-
targeted and purposeful. Without awareness, prompts
can become vague or misdirected, leading to less useful
responses.
SO YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE ANY AI TOOL YOU ARE
USING UNDERSTANDS THE CONTENT YOU ARE TRYING TO
WRITE.

Examples:
Task: Planning a family vacation.
Awareness: You need advice on planning a family-friendly
vacation that caters to young children.
Task: Writing a business proposal.
Awareness: You want guidance on creating a compelling
business proposal to secure funding from investors.

Task: Improving health and fitness.

Awareness: You seek tips on creating a sustainable fitness
routine that fits a busy schedule.
By starting with awareness, you define the purpose and
scope of your prompt, setting a clear direction for the
AI.

PART TWO: ROLE

2. Role
The role defines who you want the AI to be. The role can
influence the tone, style, and type of response you get. It
frames the AI’s perspective and expertise, ensuring the
response aligns with your expectations.
Examples:

Travel Guide:
"As a travel guide, recommend..."
Professional Chef:
"Imagine you are a professional chef, and explain..."
Financial Advisor:
"Act as a financial advisor and suggest..."
History Professor:
"As a history professor, provide an overview of..."
Fitness Trainer:
"Pretend you are a fitness trainer and outline a workout
plan..."
Assigning a specific role helps the AI adopt the
appropriate knowledge base and tone, resulting in more
accurate and relevant responses.

PART THREE: ACTION

3. Action
The action specifies what you want the AI to do. It’s the
main task you are asking the AI to perform. Clear actions
guide the AI in generating focused and actionable
responses.
Examples:

Describe:
"...describe the best tourist attractions in Paris."
Provide:
"...provide a recipe for a traditional Italian pasta dish."
Give Tips:
"...give tips on how to save money for retirement."
Explain:
"...explain the significance of the Industrial Revolution."
Create:
"...create a weekly meal plan for a vegan diet."
Defining the action ensures the AI understands the
specific task, leading to more precise and useful outputs.

PART FOUR: CONTEXT

4. Context
Context provides the background information necessary
for the AI to understand the situation fully. It sets the
scene and helps the AI generate a relevant and accurate
response.

Examples:
Family Trip:
"...considering it’s a family trip with two kids under 10
years old."
Dietary Restrictions:
"...keeping in mind that the dish needs to be gluten-free."
Financial Situation:
"...given that the person is in their mid-30s with a
moderate income."
Historical Period:
"...in the context of the late 19th century."
Fitness Goals:
"...aiming for weight loss and muscle gain."
Providing context allows the AI to tailor its responses to
the specific circumstances, enhancing the relevance and
applicability of the information.

PART FIVE: EXAMPLES

5. Examples
Including examples helps to clarify what you’re looking
for. It can guide the AI to produce responses that match
your expectations by illustrating the type of information
or detail you want.
Examples:
Tourist Attractions:
"...such as visiting Disneyland or the Eiffel Tower."
Recipes:
"...like a simple spaghetti carbonara or a more complex
lasagna."
Financial Tips:
"...for example, setting up a high-yield savings account or
investing in a 401(k)."
Historical Events:
"...such as the signing of the Magna Carta or the fall of the
Berlin Wall."
Workout Routines:
"...including exercises like squats, push-ups, and running."

Using examples helps the AI understand the desired

level of detail and the nature of the response, making it
easier to meet your expectations.

PART SIX: CONSTRAINTS + FORMATTING

6. Constraints + Formatting
These are specific requirements or limitations that the
response must adhere to, such as word count, format, or
specific criteria that must be met. Constraints and
formatting ensure the response is delivered in a usable
and preferred manner.
Examples:
Budget:
"...within a budget of $2000."
Format:
"...in a list format with bullet points."
Word Count:
"...no more than 500 words."
Style:
"...written in a formal tone suitable for academic
purposes."
Time Frame:
"...to be completed within two weeks."
By setting constraints and formatting requirements,
you ensure the AI’s response fits within your practical
and stylistic needs.
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
Combining all six ingredients into a complete prompt
involves weaving them together to form a clear, detailed,
and tailored request. Let’s look at several comprehensive
examples across different scenarios:

Example 1: Planning a Family Vacation

Awareness: You want to plan a family vacation.

Role: "As a travel guide..."
Action: "...recommend a 7-day itinerary in Paris..."
Context: "...considering it’s a family trip with two kids
under 10 years old."
Examples: "...such as visiting Disneyland or the Eiffel
Tower."
Constraints + Formatting: "...within a budget of $2000
and in a list format with bullet points."

Complete Prompt
"As a travel guide, recommend a 7-day itinerary in Paris,
considering it’s a family trip with two kids under 10 years
old. Include popular attractions such as visiting
Disneyland or the Eiffel Tower, within a budget of $2000
and in a list format with bullet points."
Example 2: Writing a Business Proposal

Awareness: You need guidance on writing a business

proposal.
Role: "Act as a business consultant..."
Action: "...outline the key components of a business
proposal..."
Context: "...for a startup seeking funding."
Examples: "...such as executive summary, market
analysis, and financial projections."
Constraints + Formatting: "...in a structured format with
headings and subheadings, and no more than 1500
words."

Complete Prompt
"Act as a business consultant and outline the key
components of a business proposal for a startup seeking
funding. Include sections such as executive summary,
market analysis, and financial projections. Ensure the
response is in a structured format with headings and
subheadings, and no more than 1500 words."
Example 3: Improving Health and Fitness

Awareness: You seek tips on improving health and fitness.

Role: "Pretend you are a fitness trainer..."
Action: "...create a weekly workout plan..."
Context: "...for someone with a busy schedule who can
only work out 30 minutes a day."
Examples: "...including exercises like squats, push-ups,
and running."
Constraints + Formatting: "...in a table format with days
of the week and exercise details."

Complete Prompt
"Pretend you are a fitness trainer and create a weekly
workout plan for someone with a busy schedule who can
only work out 30 minutes a day. Include exercises like
squats, push-ups, and running. Format the response in a
table with days of the week and exercise details."

Example 4: Cooking a Special Meal

Awareness: You need a recipe for a special meal.

Role: "Imagine you are a professional chef..."
Action: "...provide a detailed recipe for a three-course
Italian dinner..."
Context: "...that can be prepared in under two hours."
Examples: "...such as bruschetta for the starter, lasagna
for the main course, and tiramisu for dessert."
Constraints + Formatting: "...with step-by-step
instructions and ingredient measurements."

Complete Prompt
"Imagine you are a professional chef and provide a
detailed recipe for a three-course Italian dinner that can
be prepared in under two hours. Include dishes such as
bruschetta for the starter, lasagna for the main course,
and tiramisu for dessert. Ensure the recipe includes step-
by-step instructions and ingredient measurements."

Example 5: Learning About a Historical Event

Awareness: You want to learn about a specific historical

event.
Role: "As a history professor..."
Action: "...explain the significance of the Industrial
Revolution..."
Context: "...focusing on its impact on European society."
Examples: "...mentioning key figures like James Watt and
significant inventions like the steam engine."
Constraints + Formatting: "...in an essay format with an
introduction, body, and conclusion, and no more than
1000 words."

Complete Prompt
"As a history professor, explain the significance of the
Industrial Revolution, focusing on its impact on European
society. Mention key figures like James Watt and
significant inventions like the steam engine. Provide the
response in an essay format with an introduction, body,
and conclusion, and no more than 1000 words."

By using this structured approach, you can craft

prompts that are clear, detailed, and tailored to get the
most useful responses from the AI. This method ensures
that your requests are well-defined, leading to accurate
and relevant outputs.
Tips for Refining Your Prompts
To further refine your prompts, consider these additional
tips:
Be Specific: The more specific your prompt, the better the
AI can understand and respond to your request.
Use Clear Language: Avoid ambiguity by using clear and
concise language.
Test and Iterate: If the response isn’t quite right, adjust
your prompt and try again.
Provide Feedback: Giving feedback on what works and
what doesn’t can help the AI improve over time.

The ultimate prompt formula is a powerful tool for

extracting high-quality, relevant responses from an AI. By
understanding and effectively using the six key
ingredients—Awareness, Role, Action, Context,
Examples, and Constraints + Formatting—you can create
prompts that are well-defined and purposeful. Whether
you’re planning a vacation, writing a business proposal, or
learning about a historical event, this formula will help
you get the most out of your interactions with AI.
By investing time in crafting detailed and structured
prompts, you ensure that the AI’s responses meet your
needs and expectations, making your tasks easier and
more efficient.

Bonus Tips for Crafting Effective Prompts

Use Natural Language: Write your prompts as if you were

speaking to a person. This helps the AI understand the
nuances of your request better.

Example:
Instead of: "Explain significance Industrial Revolution
Europe."
Use: "Can you explain the significance of the Industrial
Revolution in Europe?"

Ask Open-Ended Questions: Encourage more detailed

responses by asking open-ended questions rather than
yes/no questions.
Example:
Instead of: "Is Paris a good place to visit?"
Use: "What makes Paris a great place to visit?"
Break Down Complex Requests: If your task is complex,
break it down into smaller, more manageable parts. This
can help the AI provide more comprehensive answers.

Example:
"Describe the causes and effects of the Industrial
Revolution."
Break it down to: "First, can you describe the main causes
of the Industrial Revolution? Now, can you explain its
effects on European society?"

Specify the Audience: Indicate who the information is for,

which can help tailor the response to the appropriate
level of detail and complexity.

Example:
"Explain the concept of blockchain technology."
Add: "Explain the concept of blockchain technology to a
high school student."
Use Follow-Up Prompts: Don’t hesitate to ask follow-up
questions if you need more details or clarification.

Example:
"What are some common investments for beginners?"
Follow-up: "Can you explain the risks associated with
each of these investments?"

Leverage AI’s Ability to Summarize: If you need a

summary of a lengthy topic, specifically ask for a summary
to get a concise response.

Example:
"Summarize the main points of the Magna Carta."
Or: "Can you provide a brief overview of the causes of
World War I?"
Define Technical Terms: If your topic involves technical or
specialized terms, consider asking the AI to define them.

Example:

"Explain how CRISPR technology works."

Add: "Please include a definition of CRISPR."

Ask for Different Perspectives: For a more rounded

understanding, request information from different
viewpoints.

Example:
"Explain the benefits and drawbacks of remote work."
Or: "What are the pros and cons of renewable energy
sources?"

Clarify Timeframes: Specify if you need information

relevant to a particular time period.

Example:
"Describe the economic impact of the Industrial
Revolution."
Add: "Focus on the early 19th century in Europe."
Use Multiple Formats: If the information can be
presented in different formats, specify your preference.

Example:
"List the steps to make a traditional lasagna."
Or: "Provide a flowchart showing the process of making a
traditional lasagna."

Use my magic Constraints + Formatting formula: by

adding ( IN CLEAR SIMPLE ENGLISH) at the beginning of
your prompt
Example:
in clear simple English"As a history professor, explain
the significance of the Industrial Revolution, focusing on
its impact on European society. Mention key figures like
James Watt and significant inventions like the steam
engine. Provide the response in an essay format with an
introduction, body, and conclusion, and no more than
1000 words."
Just by adding in clear simple English, you achieve %90
to %98 content humanization
