Warm up (the T can choose one activity from these)


 Have a small talk with the students about their
friend/idol/hobbies/health
 Play a song/a video about recipe to make a kind of food
 Ask the S to talk about their favorite food to cook
Presentatio Vocabulary
n - Provide some new words in task 1, 2 and 3 (detailed in the lesson teaching
material)
- Ask students to listen and repeat the new words
- Check understanding the new words
Practice Task 1. Listen and read.
- Play the tape of the conversation for the student to listen and follow to get
the general topic of this unit
- Explain the new words if there are any ones
Task 1a. Can you find a word that means.
- Ask the S to read the definitions 1-6 to understand them clearly
- Give the S the meanings of the new words if there are any ones
- Let the S scan the text again to find out the words or phrases that means the
sentences 1-6
- Check their answers and give feedback
Task 1b. Find all the words related to the topic of food in the
conversation. Put them in the word web.
- Ask the S to look at the word web to get the general information about it
and brainstorm about the topic “ingredients” and “preparing and cooking”
- Notice the S to find all nouns for “ingredients” and verbs for “preparing
and cooking”
- Let the S fill some related words to complete the word web
- Give feedback and ask them some questions related to ingredients and
cooking
Example:
Q: What is a common ingredient used in making scrambled eggs?
A: Butter is a common ingredient used in making scrambled eggs. It is
melted in a pan and the beaten eggs are cooked in the melted butter, resulting
in fluffy and delicious scrambled eggs.
Task 1c. Answer the questions.
- Let the S read the questions and underline the key words
- Ask the S to scan the conversation in task 1 and find out the answers
- Tell the S to read out loud the answer
- Check the answers and give feedback
Task 2. Write the name of each dish in the box under each picture.
- Let the S read the given phrases of dishes in the box and remind the
meanings of the words
- Give the S the meanings of new words if there are any ones
- Ask the S to look at the pictures and determine what words are for them
- Let the S choose the right words for each picture and write them under the
pictures
- Check the answers and give feedback
Task 3a. In pairs, discuss which country from the box is associated with
each dish.
- Let the S read the names of country in the box
- Ask the S to look at the given pictures/photos and determine or guess which
country do they belong to
- Tell the S to present their answers on the screen
- Check their answers and predictions and give feedback
Task 3b. Fill each blank with the name of a dish in 2.
- Let the S go back task 2 and read the given words of dishes again and
remember them
- Ask the S to read the given sentences and notice the blanks
- Ask the S to read the given sentences to get the general ideas of them
- Let the S fill in the blanks with one of the words in task 2 and write them
on the screen
- Check their answers and give feedback
Production Task 3. Food quiz.
- Let the S look at the quiz and get general information about its content
- Ask the S the requirements 1-5 and ask them to find out the required
information
- Check their answers and give feedback
