1. CHANDRAYAAN – 3
Chandrayaan – 3 is the third lunar mission of the Indian Space Research
Organisation (ISRO).
It was launched on 14 July 2023 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in
Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
The mission’s objective is to soft-land a rover on the Moon’s South Pole.
The rover will the first Indian rover to land on the Moon.
The mission will also conduct a number of scientific experiments, including
studying the Moon’s geology, its water resources and its atmosphere.
Chandrayaan – 3 is a significant milestone for India’s space programme.
It will make India the fourth country to land a rover on the Moon, after the
United States, Soviet Union and China.
2. G20
G20 was established in 1999 to bring together Finance Ministers and central
Bank governors of developed and developing countries.
The main aim of this group is to promote financial stability and sustainable
development in the world.
India takes over the G20 Presidency from December 1, 2022 till November 30,
2023.
The theme for India’s G20 Presidency is ‘VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM’ or
‘ONE EARTH – ONE FAMILY – ONE FUTURE’. Essentially, it denotes the value of
all life forms – human, animal, plants and microorganisms – and their
interconnectedness on the planet Earth and in the wider universe.
The first summit of the G20 was held in Washington in 2008.
The G20 logo draws inspiration from the vibrant colours of India’s national
flag – saffron, white, green and blue.
3. CRICKET
Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets and won the first
Women’s Premier League 2023 title.
The venue of the match was Mumbai (India).
This was the first version of Women’s Premier League.
Mascot – SHAKTI
‘Lord Hanuman’ is the mascot of the 25th Asian Athletics Championships 2023
held in Thailand.
4. Deepika Mishra has become the first female officer of the Indian Air Force to receive
the ‘Bravery Award’.
She has been awarded the Vayu Sena medal for the extraordinary courage
displayed during the flood relief campaign in Madhya Pradesh.
5. China has become the first country in Asia to start a ‘hydrogen – driven’ train.
The top speed of the train is 160 km per hour.
World’s first country to start a hydrogen – powered train – Germany.
6. Home Minister Amit Shah launched the ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ from Kibithu
(Arunachal Pradesh) for the overall development of rural areas.
Vibrant Village Programme is a centrally – funded programme which was
announced to develop the border villages.
This will include the border areas of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand,
Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Ladakh.
7. The name of the historic ‘Mughal Garden’ built in Rashtrapati Bhawan (Delhi) has
been changed to ‘Amrit Udyan’.
8. Hekani Jakhalu and Salhoutuonuo Kruse have become the first women legislators to
be elected in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
10. A submarine named ‘Matsya 6000’ has been developed for India’s first manned
Samudrayaan Mission.
Under this mission, a submarine carrying 3 people will be sent to a depth of six
kilometres under the sea.
11. ‘Samarth Abhiyan’ has been launched by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj
minister Giriraj Singh to promote digital transactions at Gram Panchayat level in
2023.
