Experiment Title: Simple Linear Regression


Aim: To perform simple linear regression using data analysis toolpak in Excel.
Theory: Simple linear regression is a statistical method that allows us to summarize and study
relationships between two continuous (quantitative) variables. One variable, denoted x is
regarded as the predictor, explanatory, or independent variable. The other variable, denoted y
is regarded as the response, outcome, or dependent variable.
Procedure: First of all download the required data set insert it in you’re excel worksheet.
1. Click on the ‘File’ icon on the top left corner of your window->Select ‘Excel Options’->Click
on ‘Add Ins’->Select ‘Analysis Toolpak’->Click on ‘Go’.
2. Click on ‘Data’->’Data Analysis’->Select ‘Regression’->Click ‘OK’.
3. For ‘Input Y range’ manually select all the values of the dependent variable.
4. For ‘Input X range’ manually select all the values of independent variable.
5. For ‘Output range’ select any one random cell.
6. Check on ‘Labels’, ‘Residuals’ & ‘Residual plots’.
7. Click ‘OK’.
Output:

Conclusion: Thus, I successfully performed simple linear regression using data


analysis toolpak in Excel.
