1. Divisibility Rules
Understanding divisibility rules for numbers, such as divisibility by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10.
For example, consider the number 732. The last two digits are 32, which is a
multiple of 4. Therefore, 732 is divisible by 4.
Let's take another example: 1,248. The last two digits are 48, and since 48 is
divisible by 4, the entire number 1,248 is also divisible by 4.
This rule is a quick way to check divisibility by 4 without performing the full
division.
5 Ending 5 or 0
6 The divisibility rule for 6 combines the rules for divisibility by both 2
and 3. A number is divisible by 6 if it is divisible by both 2 and 3.
9
The divisibility rule for 9 is based on the sum of the digits of a number. A
number is divisible by 9 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 9. This rule is a
specific case of the more general rule for divisibility by 3.
If the sum of the digits of a number is divisible by 9, then the entire number is
divisible by 9.
