Case Study Project
Case Study Project
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not a goal, it is a habit," as Aristotle once said.
Welcome to the Hands-on Project. This week, you'll put everything you've learned so far into
practice, demonstrating your skills as a professional on an SAP project. First, you'll choose a case
study about a real-life SAP implementation from the SAP Customer Success Stories. This website
hosts hundreds of testimonials and we'll provide guidelines to help you select a great case to
work with. As a professional preparing for an engagement, you'll research the customer's
organization, technology landscape, and industry context. Along with reviewing the case story
materials, you'll use your research to establish the customer's business objectives and then
identify SAP applications and capabilities that could meet these goals. Next, you'll create a short
precis or video to present your findings to the customer. In your submission, you'll explain what
you've discovered through your research; and set out the benefits you believe the SAP solution
provides to achieve the customer's goals. Play video starting at: 1:17 and follow transcript1:17
Once you submit your assessment, you'll be able to compare your work with a best practice
example, giving you better insight into how a customer might respond to your proposed
approach. Finally, you will review project submissions from other learners, providing valuable
feedback to your peers and receiving feedback on your own work. Project Overview: SAP
Customer Analysis In this video, I'm going to introduce your case study project assignment. Along
with the final quiz, the assignment is part of the graded assessment for this course. The aim of
the assignment is to give you an opportunity to examine a real-life SAP implementation in more
depth and to demonstrate what you've learned in this course. For this project, you'll explore the
Royal Greenland SAP Customer story. Based in the Arctic Circle, Royal Greenland is a world leader
in the seafood industry. Royal Greenland works with local fishing communities to sustainably
source high-quality seafood for consumers all over the world. As a food supplier operating in
sensitive marine environments, Royal Greenland must meet strict customer quality and product
traceability requirements, such as registering the seafood from each catch. Along with its fishing
operations, the Royal Greenland organization has processing, logistics, and sales functions. The
case study describes how Royal Greenland collaborated with SAP and an ecosystem partner (Tri
fork) to digitize their seafood catch registration and procurement processes. The project involved
building three apps using the SAP Business Technology Platform (or SAP BTP). To set the scene for
you.
In this final module for the course, you will: Complete the remaining parts of your case study
assignment Finalize your project deliverables Submit your completed project work Review and
provide feedback on project submissions from two (2) other learners Receive feedback on your
work from your peers Access completed assignment samples to compare your work and
participate in a discussion reflecting on your project experiences Take the final graded quiz to
assess what you've learned over the course. You should budget about 2.5 hours to complete your
assignment, plus up to a half hour to complete the graded quiz. To recap, the aim of the project
is to analyse a real-life SAP implementation in more depth. You've been exploring the Royal
Greenland SAP customer story which describes how Royal Greenland collaborated with SAP and
an ecosystem partner (Tri fork) to digitize their seafood catch registration and procurement
processes. The Royal Greenland project involved building three apps using the SAP Business
Technology Platform (SAP BTP). The case study project structure is shown below. You've already
completed Parts 1 and 2 of your case study assignment earlier in the course. In Part 1, you
reviewed the case study material and completed activities that helped you articulate Royal
Greenland's digital transformation goals for the project. In Part 2, you looked at the capabilities
of the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). In the remaining parts of the assignment,
you'll review the end-to-end SAP solution in more depth. You'll also assess how implementing
the SAP solution supports Royal Greenland to meet its digital transformation goals and become
an intelligent, sustainable enterprise. Continue to use the copy of the Case Study Template you
created for Parts 1 and 2 to save your work for Parts 3 and 4 of the assignment. In Part 5, you'll
build an Executive Summary Deck summarizing your findings for the customer. You'll submit both
your finalized Case Study Assignment document and Executive Summary Deck for peer review.
The table below summarizes the deliverables and status for each part of the assignment.
Part 1: Review Royal Greenland Case Study Materials Completed Case Study Assignment
document (based on Case Study Template)
For a refresher on the elements of System Design and Development, see Course 2 Module 3.
Activity 2: Describe the key system and design considerations for the project team as they build
the end-to-end solution represented in the App Architecture diagram on page 4 of the Royal
Greenland case study(pdf). Hint: What do you think the project team will have to consider with
respect to: Computing Models - for example, Compute Network Storage, OnPrem, Cloud?
Architecture - for example, Private, Public, Hybrid, Multi-Cloud? Operating Systems and Platforms
- for example, SAP BTP? Application Development - for example, Mobile, Web)? Programming
languages - for example, what languages might be used to develop the different apps? Data
analytics - for example, what kind of data will need to be captured and analysed? Security - for
example, what are the user and data implications? For a refresher on the elements of System
Design and Development, see Course 2 Module 3. For a refresh on SAP Application and
Development Models, see Course 2 Module 4. Activity 3: Show the data flow through the
solution using the Data Flow Diagram Template In this activity, you'll produce a high-level
diagram showing how data is captured, analysed, distributed, augmented, and stored in the end-
to-end solution. During the course, we explained that data modelling is the visual representation
of an enterprise's data elements and their connections. When creating a new system, a designer
starts with a diagram showing data flow into and out of the system. For a refresher on data
models, see Module 3 Lesson 1, Architectural Design Methods video. Along with the Data Flow
Diagram Template, the Case Study Template provides more hints to help complete the activity. If
you do not want to use the template, you can draw a diagram free hand on paper or develop it
using a drawing app (for example, MS Procreate). Activity 4: Describe technology areas that may
be impacted by further solution development. The Future Plans paragraph in the Royal
Greenland customer story(web page article) describes the scenarios Royal Greenland has for
future development, including "building an e-commerce platform for buying fishing equipment
and using apps to help authorities find boats that are lost at sea", and "innovating in the area of
financial literacy, providing fishers with an overview of their finances as well as tools to help
them set budgets and build savings". Imagine that these potential projects are moving forward.
As a technology consultant, part of your role is to help advise Royal Greenland on the use of
information technology.
Activity 1: Describe how implementing SAP BTP supports Royal Greenland's digital
transformation goals and its journey toward becoming an intelligent and sustainable enterprise.
Activity 2: Identify the elements of the SAP project and solution that contribute to Royal
Greenland's Quadruple bottom line (People, Planet, Profit, and Purpose). Finalize your Case
Study Assignment Deliverable At this point, you have completed Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4 and can
finalize your Case Study Assignment deliverable. Ensure you have completed each section in the
Case Study Assignment document, meaning you have documented your responses for Parts 1, 2,
3, and 4 and the related activities. Remove any instructions sections or examples provided in the
original Case Study Template so that your final deliverable contains only your work and is ready
to upload. You're nearly there! Continue to Part 5 to complete the final part of your assignment -
preparing an executive deck to summarize your findings for the customer. Case Study Project
Part 5: Prepare an executive summary deck Prepare an executive summary deck in this part of
the assignment, you'll prepare an executive summary deck to present your key project findings
as you would to a real customer. To develop your deck: Create a new file in either MS PowerPoint
or Google Slides. If you took advantage of the Data Flow Template example to complete your
work in Part 3 above, you can continue to use that file as the basis for this new deck. You can
select any design look and feel but consider that this is a document that will be presented to a
customer in a professional context. For a refresher on professional writing skills, and working
with Microsoft Office Suite, see Course 1 Module 2 Lesson 3. Save the file to your local drives.
Give your executive summary deck a unique file name so that you can easily find it and upload it
for submission later, for example, "Course 2_Project Submission Deck_YourInitials" Follow the
assignment structure - for example, develop an introduction slide summarizing the SAP customer
story and implementation, and then use one slide per task, including your key findings from each
activity only. A deck outline is provided below to help if you are stuck, but you do not need to
copy this. Remember, you are developing a summary, which means distilling the key points for
your customer - ideally, no more than 6-7 slides. Suggested deck outline
