Section A: Objective Type Questions (1 mark each)

1. A charge q is placed at the center of a cube. The electric flux through one face of the cube
is:

- a) q/ε₀

- b) q/2ε₀

- c) q/6ε₀

- d) q/8ε₀

2. The dimensional formula of the magnetic field B is:

- a) [MT⁻²A⁻¹]

- b) [MLT⁻²A⁻¹]

- c) [M¹L⁰T⁻²A⁻¹]

- d) [M¹L⁰T⁻¹A⁻¹]

Section B: Short Answer Questions (2 marks each)
11. Derive the expression for the capacitance of a parallel-plate capacitor with a dielectric
medium of dielectric constant K.

12. State and explain Kirchhoff’s laws of electrical circuits.

---

Section C: Long Answer Questions (3 marks each)

17. Derive the expression for the magnetic field at a point on the axis of a current-carrying
circular loop using Biot-Savart’s law.

18. Derive the expression for the energy stored in a capacitor and explain the effect of
inserting a dielectric medium between its plates.

---

Section D: Numerical Problems (4 marks each)

21. A light of wavelength 600nm is incident on a diffraction grating with 5000 lines/cm.
Calculate the angular position of the first-order maximum.

22. A convex lens of focal length 20 cm forms a real image at a distance of 50 cm from the
lens. Calculate the object distance.

---

Section E: Value-Based Questions (5 marks each)

24. An electric bulb marked 100 W, 200 V is connected to a 100 V supply. Calculate the
power consumed by the bulb and explain why it is less than the marked value.

25. A student performed an experiment to verify Ohm’s law. He connected a resistor of 10 Ω

to a 6 V battery and measured the current using an ammeter. The current was found to be
0.55 A. Analyze whether the result verifies Ohm’s law and discuss the possible sources of
error in the experiment.
