6 Abstract: A single paragraph of about 200 words maximum. For research

7 articles, abstracts should give a pertinent overview of the work. We strongly
8 encourage authors to use the following style of structured abstracts, but
9 without headings: (1) Background: Place the question addressed in a broad
10 context and highlight the purpose of the study; (2) Methods: briefly describe
11 the main methods or treatments applied; (3) Results: summarize the article’s

30 1. Introduction
31 The introduction should briefly place the study in a broad context and
32 highlight why it is important. It should define the purpose of the work and
33 its significance. The current state of the research field should be carefully
34 reviewed and key publications cited. Please highlight controversial and
35 diverging hypotheses when necessary. Finally, briefly mention the main aim
36 of the work and highlight the principal conclusions. As far as possible,
37 please keep the introduction comprehensible to scientists outside your
38 particular field of research. References should be numbered in order of
39 appearance and indicated by a numeral or numerals in square brackets—
40 e.g., [1] or [2,3], or [4–6]. See the end of the document for further details on
41 references.

42 2. Materials and Methods

43 The Materials and Methods should be described with sufficient details to
44 allow others to replicate and build on the published results. Please note that
45 the publication of your manuscript implicates that you must make all
46 materials, data, computer code, and protocols associated with the
47 publication available to readers. Please disclose at the submission stage any
48 restrictions on the availability of materials or information. New methods and
49 protocols should be described in detail while well-established methods can
50 be briefly described and appropriately cited.
51 Research manuscripts reporting large datasets that are deposited in a
52 publicly available database should specify where the data have been
53 deposited and provide the relevant accession numbers. If the accession
54 numbers have not yet been obtained at the time of submission, please state
55 that they will be provided during review. They must be provided prior to
56 publication.
57 Interventionary studies involving animals or humans, and other studies
58 that require ethical approval, must list the authority that provided approval
59 and the corresponding ethical approval code.

61 This section may be divided by subheadings. It should provide a concise
62 and precise description of the experimental results, their interpretation, as
63 well as the experimental conclusions that can be drawn.
