Disadvantages of magnetic stripe readers:
• Can’t store many data • Data can be lost – magnetic fields • Less durable • Fraud: readers and writers can be brought and use by anyone
RFID reader: • Passive RFID reader: is versatile, can be used in many ways

• Dog’s chips • Apple pays • Clothing security tags Advantages of RFID readers: • Work within a few meters of antenna • Scan multiple tags • Can write data into tags • Versatile
Disadvantages of RFIB readers:
• Limited range • No authentication (password/secure) • Effect by electrical interference
QR scanners and bar code readers:
Advantages of QR scanners and bar code readers: • Can contain lots of data • Versatile – many purposes. o E.g.: bank transfer • Can be scanned from any direction meaning easier to read
Disadvantages of QR scanners and bar code readers:
• Need a device with a scanner app • Can easily be fraudulently as they become more common
OCR and OMR:
OCR- optical character reader: Advantages of OCR- optical character reader: • Fast • May avoid typing atom • Cheap
Disadvantages of OCR- optical character reader:
• Unreliable • Needs manual checking
OMR – optical mark recognition:
Advantage of OMR – optical mark recognition: • Fast • More accurate
Disadvantages of OMR – optical mark recognition:
• Paper needs to be align correctly • Damaged/dirty papers could be misunderstood • Marked only
