1. Overview
The PSC power supply cabinet is a rectifier that enables PBXs to be powered from a 230V (or 110V)
mains power source. Cabinet power can be selected to meet requirements. In its maximum confi-
guration, the cabinet delivers 4800 W power with a 230V mains supply (2400W with a 110V mains
supply).
WARNING:
This cabinet must be installed by qualified personnel. For installation precautions, see:
module PSC rectifier cabinet - Connection.
A standard PSC cabinet comprises:
- a cabinet,
An optional second power supply rack can be installed in the cabinet. It is totally independent of the
first power supply rack. It comprises:
- rectifier modules,

Depending on requirements, 1 to 5 rectifier modules can be installed in this rack. Module position is
not important.
However, by convention:
- module 4 is the backup module. It replaces a faulty module. This module is not taken into account
when calculating the total power of the rack.

The following formula gives battery capacity according to (known) consumption and desired battery
life.
Capacity = Consumption (mA) / Coefficient
The table below gives the value of the coefficient to be used:
Battery life 1 Hr 2 Hr 3 Hr 4 Hr 5 Hr 6 Hr 7 Hr 8 Hr
Coefficient 543.17 329.23 240.82 183.75 156.84 137.5 121.25 107.65
Note: Required battery capacity is calculated by the Actis configurator.

Battery ventilation
The PSC cabinet must be installed in a well-ventilated room. The installation technician should take
care not to block the ventilation openings.
The rear face of the cabinet has ventilation openings for the batteries, make sure these openings are
not blocked.
- pass the mains power cable through the rear panel of the cabinet,
The customers ground network may be GG or GN type. For the maximum configuration, leakage
current must be less than 3.5 mA.
The PSC cabinet must be connected to the building’s ground as follows:

The inter-battery cables are provided with the batteries. Batteries for the optional rack require an
optional shelf.
Battery connection procedure:
3. Connect the black cable to the “-” terminal (remove the protective cover, if necessary).
6. Check that the voltage between the red cable and the “+” terminal is less than 6V.
8. Connect the red cable to the “+” terminal (remove the protective cover, if necessary).
WARNING
The common + 0V is connected to the protective ground inside the power supply rack.
Connection to the PBX is performed with cables (not supplied) connected to the terminal blocks located
on the front panel of each power supply rack.
For a PBX composed of several cabinets, it is essential that the site file be consulted to ascertain the
calculated consumption of each cabinet in order to connect it to a power supply rack that is capable
of supplying it.
