* *. To make a decrease at the beginning of the row, do not make the raising chain
and start to crochet in the second stitch from hook. The last sc of each row has to be
done in the raising chain of the previous row, unless this should be a decrease.

2-3) 15 sc (15)
1 sl st, FO, invisible needle join
Repeat the same steps for the other sleeve.
OVERALLS
Work in continuous rounds with 3.0 mm crochet hook
and grey color yarn
1) start making 40 chs and close them to form a ring
with 1 slst into the first ch, 39 sc (40)
2-10) 40 sc (40)
1 slst, 6 chs, skip 20 sts, 1 slst, FO and hide the tail.
Pay attention to the size of the overalls. The proportions between Vera’s
body and the overalls should be as in the figure below.
The measures of my overalls are intended only to be indicative for a doll 22-
23 cm tall.
Trouser legs
With 2.5 mm crochet hook join the yarn in the 4th loop of the chain you’ve just
prepared, worked just before, and crochet each trouser leg in joined rounds.
Pay attention: the trouser legs are worked counterclockwise pushing the
crochet hook from the inside to the outside of the work while keeping the
work between you and the hook. Basically, you should crochet inside out.
In this way the hdc stitches will create a stripe motif.
Upper part
Now continue to crochet in row to make the front upper part of the overall

6) no raising ch and 1 sc in the second st from hook

Skip 6 st and join the yarn to make the back upper part of the overall
7) no raising ch and 1 sc in the second st from the hook (=1 dec), 5 sc, 1 dec, turn
(7)
8) no raising ch and 1 sc in the second st from the hook (=1 dec), 3 sc, 1 dec, turn
(5)
9) no raising ch and 1 sc in the second st from the hook (=1 dec), 1 sc, 1 dec, turn
(3)
10) no raising ch and work together the 2nd and 3rd sts from hook (=2 dec), FO (1)
Suspenders
Pockets
Work in row with 2.5 mm crochet hook.
Back pocket
1) Start making 7 ch, 6 sc (the first one in the second ch from hook), turn (6)
2) 1 raising ch and 1 sc in the same st (= 1 inc), 4 sc, 1 inc, turn (8)
3-6) 1 raising ch, 7 sc, turn (8)
FO
1) Start making 10 ch, 9 sc (the first one in the second ch from hook), turn (9)
2-3) 1 raising ch, 8 sc, turn (9)
4) 1 raising ch, 5 sc, 1 dec, turn (7)

(= 1 dec), 4 sc, turn (5)
8) 1 raising ch, 2 sc, 1 dec, turn (4)

MATERIALS
MEASURES
Following this pattern (using same yarn or similar) your Vera will be 22-23 cm tall.
MR magic ring
ch chain
st stitch
slst slip stitch
sc single crochet
hdc half double crochet
dc double crochet
inc sc increase
dec sc invisible decrease
YO yarn over hook
YU yarn under hook
(…) repeat the instructions reported in round brackets for the times indicated.
[…] make the stitches indicated in square brackets into the same stich.
BLO back loop only
FLO front loop only
FO fasten off (cut the yarn and pull out the tail through the stitch).
At the beginning of each row * make one raising chain. This chain replaces the first
sc of the row. Then crochet the second sc in the second stitch from hook and proceed
with all sc indicated in the pattern*. At the end of the row turn your work, and repeat
* *. To make a decrease at the beginning of the row, do not make the raising chain
and start to crochet in the second stitch from hook. The last sc of each row has to be
done in the raising chain of the previous row, unless this should be a decrease.
LEGS
Work in continuous rounds with 2.0 mm crochet hook if not indicated otherwise
First leg
Start with the orange colour to make the sock
1) 6 sc in a MR (6)
2) 6 inc (12)
3-5) 12 sc (12)
7) 16 sc (16)
8) (2 sc, 1 dec) x 4 (12)
9-13) 12 sc (12)
14) 12 sc, 1 slst, invisible needle join, cut the yarn leaving a long tail (~ 30 cm) (12)
15) join the skin color yarn in the needle join loop with a standing sc and then proceed
with 11 sc all around (12)
Second leg
Repeat steps 1-32, without making the invisible needle join at the end. Do not cut the yarn
and make 4 ch to join the first leg.
The joining point on the first leg is the 4th stitch going back (counterclockwise) from its
end. The toes should slightly look at each other: if not, modify the joining points.
Stuff the legs.
BODY
33) 12 sc in the first leg, 4 sc in the 4 chains, 12
sc in the second leg, 4 sc in the other side of the
4 chains (32)
34) 11 sc, 1 inc, 4 sc, 1 inc, 15 sc (34)
35-37) 34 sc (34)
38) 10 sc, 1 dec, 6 sc, 1 dec, 14 sc (32)
39) (6 sc, dec) x 4 (28)
40) (5 sc, dec) x 4 (24)
41) 1 slst, join the skin colour yarn and work sc all
around in BLO (24)
42-45) 24 sc (24)
46) (6 sc, dec) x 3 (21)
47) 21 sc (21)
48) (5 sc, dec) x 3 (18)
49) 18 sc (18)
ARMS (make 2)
1) 6 sc in MR (6)
2) (1 sc, 1 inc) x 3 (9)
3-5) 9 sc (9)
6) (1 sc, 1 dec) x 3 (6)
7) 6 sc (6)
8) (1 sc, 1 inc) x 3 (9)
9-22) 9 sc (9)
1slst, invisible needle join
Pull out the yarn, cut it, with a needle weave the tail through the front loops of the 6 sc
remaining and pull tightly to close the hole.
HEAD
1) 6 sc in MR (6)
2) 6 inc (12)
3) (1 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (18)
4) (2 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (24)
5) (3 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (30)
6) (4 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (36)
7) (5 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (42)
8) (6 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (48)
9) (7 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (54)
10) (8 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (60)
11) (9 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (66)
Now work YU to pull out the loop in the first step of every sc, YO for the second step of
every sc. Doing this makes the stitches on the doll’s face tighter and more beautiful.
12-24) 66 sc (66)
If you do not want the head of your doll to spin, pull out and cut the yarn leaving a long
tail to sew the head on the neck at round 57/58.
To make so that her head can spin (only for very experienced crocheter):
34-46) 12 sc (12) do not stuff this part which I call “false neck”
47) 6 dec (6)
Pull out the yarn, cut it, leave a long tail, with a needle weave through the front loops of the
6 sc remaining and pull tightly to close the hole. The tail of yarn leaved can be helpful in the
next step.
WARNING: do not accidentally close the hole prepared for the neck. Insert a pencil
to keep it open while sculpting the face
Now you have to pull the eyes slightly toward the inside of the head.
Repeat these passages for the other eye and embroider the other details of the face following
the scheme below.
1 square = 1 sc
EARS
Right ear
Between round 19 and round 20 of the head, at a distance of 11 stitches from the right eye
insert your hook and work as follow:
a) 1 chain, 1 hdc in the same stitch
b) in the stitch below (between
round 20 and round 21): 3 dc
c) in the stitch below (between
round 21 and round 22):1 hdc,
1slst
Fasten off and hide the yarn tail
Left ear
Between the round 21 and round 22 of the head, at a distance of 11 stitches from the left
eye insert your hook and work as follow:
a) 1 chain, 1 hdc in the same stitch
b) in the stitch above (between round 20 and round 21): 3 dc
c) in the stitch below (between round 19 and round 20):1 hdc, 1slst
Fasten off and hide the yarn tail
WIG/HAIR
Work YO (as you did for the head of the doll) with 2.5 mm crochet hook with the hair color.
The wig must fit perfectly to the head, not too loose, not too tight
1) 6 sc in MR (6)
2) 6 inc (12)
3) (1 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (18)
4) (2 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (24)
5) (3 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (30)
6) (4 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (36)
7) (5 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (42)
8) (6 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (48)
9) (7 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (54)
10) (8 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (60)
11-13) 60 sc (60)
Now work in row YU. Slsts and chains don’t count in the number reported in the brackets at
the end of the row.
14) 1 slst, turn, 1 ch (skip the slst), 59 sc, 1 slst in the same stitch where you made 1 slst
at the beginning of this row (59)
15) turn, 1ch, (skip the slst), 58 sc, 1 slst (58)
16) turn, 1 ch, (skip the slst), 57 sc, 1 slst (57)
17) turn, 1 ch, (skip the slst), 56 sc, 1 slst (56)
18) turn, 1 ch (skip the slst) 1 dec, 51 sc, 1 dec, 1 slst, pull out the yarn, hide the tail (53)
Turn, skip the last 18 sts of the row 18, join the yarn and work the hair in the following:
a) 13 chains, 12 slst (the first one in the second ch from hook), 1 slst in the same st in
the wig. Repeat this step two more times.
b) 1 slst in the next st of the wig and repeat the step a) 3 times to make other three locks
c) 18 sc in the wig
d) make other 6 locks in the same way, pull out the yarn and cut it, leaving a long tail to
sew the wig on the head.
Insert the head onto the neck by pushing and twisting it.
Put a little bit of blush on cheeks and ears.
Good job
Vera’s body
is done!
