Section D consists of 4 questions of 5 marks each
32 Rs. 6500 is divided equally among a certain number of persons. Had there been 15 more 5
persons, each would have got Rs. 30 less. Find the original number of persons.

OR
An ordinary train takes one hour less for a journey of 150 km if it’s speed is increased by
5km/hr from it’s usual speed. Find the usual speed of the train.

Prove that if a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two sides
in distinct points, the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.
Using the above, do the following:
In Figure 𝑃𝑄 ∥ 𝐴𝐵 and 𝐴𝑄 ∥ 𝐶𝐵. Prove that 𝐴𝑅2 = 𝑃R × 𝐶𝑅.

34 From a cuboidal solid metallic block, of dimensions 15 cm × 10 cm × 5 cm, a cylindrical hole of 5


diameter 7 cm is drilled out. Find the surface area of the remaining block.

OR

A tent is in the shape of a right circular cylinder up to a height of 3 m and conical above it. The total
height of the tent is 13.5 m and radius of base is 14 m. Find the cost of cloth required to make the tent
at the rate ₹ 80 per sq. m.

SECTION E
Section E consists of 3 case study-based questions of 4 marks each
36 Adhil gets pocket money from his father every day. Out of the pocket money, he saves
₹ 2.75 on first day, ₹ 3.25 on second day, ₹ 3.75 on third day and so on.

On the basis of above information, answer the following questions.


(i) What is the amount saved by Adhil on 14th day? 1
(ii) In which day will he contribute ₹ 7.75 towards his savings? 1
(iii) What is the total amount saved by him in the month of June, if he starts savings from
1st June? 2

37 A tiling or tessellation of a flat surface is the covering of a plane using one or more
geometric shapes, called tiles, with no overlaps and no gaps. Historically, tessellations were
used in ancient Rome and in Islamic art. You may find tessellation patterns on floors, walls,
paintings etc. Shown below is a tiled floor in the archaeological Museum of Seville, made
using squares, triangles and hexagons.

A craftsman thought of making a floor pattern after being inspired by the above design. To
ensure accuracy in his work, he made the pattern on the Cartesian plane. He used regular
octagons, squares and triangles for his floor tessellation pattern

38 Ram is watching the top and bottom of a lighthouse from the top of the building. The angles
of elevation and depression of the top and bottom of a lighthouse from the top of a 60 m
high building are 30° and 60° respectively.

An observer on the top of the light house observes a ship at an angle of


depression 450 coming towards the light house along straight line joining the ship
and the base of the light house. Find the distance of the ship from the base of the
light house.
