Following the footstep of Swami Vivekananda, the institution named

Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission took its birth on 01.11.1976 by one of his ardent followers
Swami Nityananda. Subsequently there was a public need for a CBSE School. Founder of
Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission, Rev. Swami Nityanandaji Maharaj had a long cherished
desire to set up a school under central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi and for that
purpose he contacted the then Delhi Govt. headed by Hon’ble CM of Delhi Smt. Shila Dikshit
but could not start it for not having NOC from the Govt. of West Bengal at that time.
However, his desire has been fulfilled by his followers after his demise. In Sept. 2014, the
Governing Body of RKVM, Barrackpore took a decision to utilise its valuable land at 3, B. T.
Road, Agarpara for starting a CBSE School in the name of our National Hero Swami
Vivekananda. After making proper arrangements the Agarpara Swami Vivekananda Academy
started functioning from the Academic session 2015 – 2016 with affiliation of the School from
CBSE as a Middle School with 517 Students & 23 Staff only. In course of time the School has
functioned well and has been upgraded as a X – Class High School (Secondary School) by CBSE
during the session 2019 – 2020 with total students Strength 658 and 37 Staff.
Besides many activities, the Mission has been taking care of about 1300 orphan and
destitute children, ladies in distress, blind, deaf & dumb girls and other types of specially abled
people, free of charges. That is why the Government of India gave NATIONAL AWARD to the
Mission three times in 1984, 1991 and 2003 & individually to the Founder Secretary in 2007.
Since a large number of poor children and women depend on us, we have to collect
contributions from the public in general and guardians in particular. But no contribution is
collected without a valid receipt. Guardians willing to admit their children to this Mission may
kindly take a note of it. They may also kindly note that all contributions to this Mission are
exempted from payment of Income Tax in terms of Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.

AGARPARA SWAMI VIVEKANANDA ACADEMY
Prospectus for the session 2023-24
Introduction
Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission is a society registered under the West Bengal Societies
Registration Act, 1961. It is an autonomous organization legally and constitutionally separate from
other organizations carrying the names of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda. It has rights
under Article 26 of the constitution of India. The great contribution of Sri Ramakrishna to the
modern world is the harmony of religions. He preached equal regard for all faiths —
"Sarvadharmasadbhava”. The most famous disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda became
universally popular because of the fact that he tried to raise the dignity of man to the highest level
and dedicated himself with great devotion to the service of the suffering humanity. The only God
that Vivekananda wanted us to worship first is the Human soul in the Human Body i.e. "Worship
Shiva in Jiva" before pursuing any other religious rites. This Mission strives to practise the teachings
of Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda by imparting man making and character building education
to all learners in its different units.
In the current era of globalization, English has become the international language of
communication. In view of modern developments in the fields of Science and Technology and
wide opening for job opportunities in these fields, both in India and abroad, it has become
absolutely necessary to impart education at the school level through English Medium. The
Mission Administration started the ground work for a co-educational English Medium School
under CBSE at Mission premises no. 3, B.T. Road, Agarpara in Sept. 2014 and accordingly the
school started from the academic session 2015-16 .
Swami Vivekananda realized that, education can eradicate destitution of the masses.
He spoke, "Education, education, education alone! Travelling through many cities of Europe and
observing in them the comforts and education of even the poor people, there was brought to
my mind the state of our own poor people, and I used to shed tears. What made the
difference? Education was the answer I got." This Mission is a vehicle to propagate and practise
the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Accordingly, it has established a number of schools and
Colleges at different centres of the Mission.
At Barrackpore, the Mission runs at this moment a number of schools including Morning
and Day sections with about 8000 students, of which only four are English Medium Schools,
two each for the boys and the girls. The High school known as Ramakrishna Vivekananda
Mission Vidyabhawan is at 7, Riverside Road, Barrackpore and the Higher Secondary Unit is at
39, Park Road, Barrackpore. The High School and Higher secondary unit are recognized by the
West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary
Education respectively. The School Education Department, Government of West Bengal has
allowed Special Rules for management of all Junior High and High Schools run by the Mission
throughout the State of West Bengal.
