The primary objective is to hone participants negotiation skills, including active listening, effective communication, creative problem-solving, and the ability to balance assertiveness with cooperation. The competition provides a platform to apply theoretical knowledge, receive feedback, and refine negotiation strategies. Ultimately, it aims to cultivate skilled negotiators capable of achieving mutually beneficial agreements in diverse professional and personal contexts. TEAM COMPOSITION Each participating team shall consist of two members - one advocate and one client. COMPETITION ROUNDS 1. The competition shall consist of 2 rounds namely, a Preliminary Round & a Final Round. 2. The teams shall be ranked according to the marks scored in the preliminary round and the first 2 teams scoring the highest marks shall qualify for the Finals. WIFI my ea e ot 4 t- g 28 TIME ALLOCATION Each participating team shall get a session time of 35 minutes (Negotiation session - 30 minutes and Question & Answer session- 5 minutes) for the Preliminary Round and a session time of 40 minutes (Negotiation session - 35 minutes and Question & Answer session- 5 minutes) for the Final Round which shall be inclusive of: + Opening statements * Deliberations + Settlement by each team * Question & Answer session by the Judge for each team Time Allocation for the Preliminary Round shall be as under: + 5 mins - Opening statement by the Requesting Party +5 mins - Opening statement by the Responding Party * 20 mins - For negotiations and settlement * 5 mins - Question and Answer Session Time allocation for the Final Round shall be as under: + 5 mins - Opening statement by the Requesting Party + 5 mins - Opening statement by the Responding Party + 25 mins - For negotiations and settlement + 5 mins - Question and Answer Session RULES OF THE EVENT 1.The participating teams are not allowed to create new facts. Simulations are subject to reasonable interpretations and _ the participating teams may draw reasonable conclusions from them. 2.Whether the participating team’s interpretation is reasonable is a matter entirely upon the discretion of the Judges. 3.In case of any doubt in the understanding or interpretation of any matter concerning the competition, the decision of the Judges will be final and binding. WIFI my ea e ot 4 P= 2 ty © THE PROBLEM The negotiation problem consists of two parts, General Facts (facts common for both the parties) and Confidential Information (information specific to the party you represent i.e. either the Requesting Party or the Responding Party). * General Facts shall be sent to the participating teams one week before the competition. * Draw of lots which will be held 50 minutes before the commencement of the competition shall determine whether you are the Requesting Party or the Responding Party. + Confidential information shall be released to the respective teams 45 mins before the competition begins. This information should not be disclosed to any other participant at any time during the course of the competition. * Disclosure would amount to disqualification of the respective team. Your Clients Demands — Your arguments VL Settlement LANGUAGE, DRESS CODE & PR TATIO The medium of communication in the competition will be English.
