EXPERIMENT NO.

VERIFICATION AND REALIZATION OF DEMORGAN'S THEOREM

Aim:

To verify De Morgan's theorem for two variables.

Components and equipments required: ICs 7400, 7402, 7404, 7432, 7408 and IC trainer kit
Theory: De Morgan's first theorem states that 'the complement of a sum is equal to the product
of Complements.

De Morgan's second theorem states that 'the complement of a product is equal to the sum of the
Complements.

Universal gates: NOR and NAND gates are called universal gates because all other
gates/functions can be implemented using either NOR gates or NAND gates alone.
Procedure
1. Test all components using digital IC tester.
2. Set up the circuits as shown in figures one by one and observe the outputs corresponding to
input combinations.
Realization of Boolean expressions using gates
Result: The verification of Demorgan’s theorem is done and verified using
truth table.
