II. Answer the following: (3x2=6)
7. Simplify the expression and find the value of if x= 2, y = -1
6x + 5 (y-1)
Answer : 6(2)+5(-1-1)
= 12-10
Value =2
8. find the shaded area of given diagram. Is both
areas are same?
Answer: Shaded Region(I& II) = Area of Square – Area of Circle
= s x s - 4(Quadrant circle)
=202 – 3.14 x (10)2
=400-314
=86 cm2
Since both diagrams have same radius of circle.
Therefore, both areas are equal.
9.

Answer:
i) a2+ b2=c2 ( Using Pythagoras theorem)
32+ 42=x2
X2= 25
X=5 cm
ii) X+2x+900=1800 (Angle sum properties)
3x=900
X=300
iii) 300+ 400=x0 (Ext angle properties)
X0=700

III. Justify/Evaluate the following (2x3=6)

(2)
10. a) A tree is broken at the height of 12m from the ground and its top
touches the ground at a distance of 16m from the base of the tree. Find the
original height of the tree.

Answer : a2+ b2=c2 ( Using Pythagoras theorem)

122 +162=x2
X2= 400
X=20cm
Therefore height of the tree is 12m +20m=32meter.

Or
b) Sohan divides a circular disc of radius 21cm in two equal parts. Find
the perimeter of each semicircular disc.
Answer : We know that the circumference of circle = ,
where r= radius of the circle.

Since semicircle is half of the circle , then the circumference of

the semi-circle = (circumference of circle ) ÷ 2

For r= 21 cm

Circumference of the semicircle =

[here ]

Therefore , the perimeter of semi-circular shape disc is 66 cm.

11. Find the value of following

18 12 2 (−5) −4 −9 −5 7

IV. Solve the following: - (3x4=12)
12. a) How many times a wheel of radius 14 cm must rotate to go 88m.
Answer: N x Circumference of circle= Distance covered by Wheel
𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒
N= 𝐶𝑖𝑟𝑐𝑢𝑟𝑚𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑖𝑟𝑐𝑙𝑒

88 𝑥100𝑥7
= 2𝑥 22𝑥 14

61600
= 616

No of rotations = 100 times will rotate.

b) What is the circumference of a circle of area 154cm2.Also find the

diameter.
Answer : Area of circle = π r2
154= 22/7 r2
154 𝑥 7
r2= = 49
22
r=7 cm, D=14 cm
Circumference of the circle = 2 π r
2 𝑥 22 𝑥 7

13. a) In an isosceles triangle ABC, with AB = AC = 10cm and BC= 12cm, the
height AD from A to BC is 8cm. Find the area of ∆ABC. What Will be the
height from C to AB.
Answer : Area of triangle= ½ b x h
= ½ x 12 x 8
= 48cm2
Let Height from c to AB =h1 cm
Area of triangle ABC = ½ b x h1
h1 = 96 /10 =9.6 cm
OR
b) ABCD is a quadrilateral. Is (AB+BC+CD+DA)>(AC+BD)

(4)
Answer :
Now visually identify that the quadrilateral ABCD. It is divided by diagonals
AC and BD into four triangles.

Now, take each triangle separately and apply the property and then add
L.H.S and R.H.S of the equation formed.

In triangle ABC,

AB + BC > AC ……………(1)

In triangle ADC,

AD + CD > AC ………….. (2)

In triangle ADB,

AD + AB > DB --------------(3)

In triangle DCB,

DC+ CB > DB..................(4)

Adding equation (1), (2), (3) and (4) we get,

AB + BC + AD + CD + AD + AB + DC+ CB > AC + AC + DB + DB

AB + AB + BC + BC + CD + CD + AD + AD > 2AC + 2DB

2AB + 2BC + 2CD + 2AD > 2AC + 2DB

AB + BC + CD + AD > AC + DB

Hence, AB + BC + CD + DA > AC + BD is true

14. Case Study Question

A Pizza factory has come out with two type of pizza. A square pizza of
side 50cm costs Rs 200 and a circular pizza of diameter 70cm costs Rs 250.
Answer the following questions:

Answer

(5)
a)What is the ratio of the perimeter of the square pizza to the
circumference of the circular pizza?
Perimeter of Square = 4 x side
= 4 x 50
= 200 cm

2 𝑥 22 𝑥70
Circumference of Circle = = 220 𝑐𝑚
7𝑥2
Ratio of Square and Circle = 200: 220
Ratio = 10 : 11

c) What is the area of the circular pizza ?

22 𝑥 70 𝑥70
Area of Circular pizza = = 3850 cm2
7𝑥4

c)Which pizza size is more ?

Area of Square = s x s = 50 x50= 2500 cm2
Area of circular pizza = 3850 cm2
Therefore circular pizza is more in size.
