To conform to regulations ECDIS software must be kept up-to-date; MSC.1/Circ.1503. 24 July 2015
applies. Software updates will also offer enhancements, new features and new services.
The annual Navmaster Upgrade Contract provides peace of mind for updating the ECDIS software.
Subscribers receive software updates free of charge when issued. The upgrades will self-install with
our guidance (no engineer attendance costs).
The Navmaster contract also entitles ship’s crew to receive prompt knowledgeable support from PC
Maritime’s own in-house support engineers. Most queries can be resolved by email or phone. For
issues with NMEA reception Navmaster has a Remote Diagnostics feature to analyse status and
advise a solution, without the need for engineer attendance. If internet is available, we use software
giving our engineers direct access to the ECDIS units. By managing most ECDIS support remotely,
we can keep ships’ running costs down.
PC Maritime’s Type-specific & Certification Course gives interactive training in all aspects of
Navmaster operation. It can be used onboard, ashore or via internet download. When a user has
completed the course an Assessment test can be taken under controlled conditions. On passing with
at least 70%, a temporary Type-specific training certificate is generated. This simply needs to be
emailed to PC Maritime with proof of identity as required by the company Safety Management
System. A formal Navmaster ECDIS familiarisation certificate is returned .
Internet access is not essential; training & certification can take place without officers having to
leave ship, ashore in company offices and colleges, or in an individual’s home.
