1The following specification text has been prepared by MIFAB to assist design professionals in the preparation of

a specification to include finished floor drains, trench drains and grates, and drainage piping floor cleanouts.

Utilize these paragraphs to insert text into Specification Section 22 13 18 – Drainage and Vent Piping Specialties
or similarly titled section governing this work.

The following should be noted in using this document:

PART 1 – GENERAL

SUBMITTALS

Action Submittals:
Product Data: Manufacturer’s product data sheets with descriptive data and product attributes,
including optional variations required.

PART 2 – PRODUCTS

TRENCH DRAINS AND GRATES

Note that the proper catalogue number (with all required variations) for trench drains and grates drains should be
included on a drawing schedule.

MIFAB [T1400-PB-13 4” wide] [T2000-PB-13 8” wide] [T3000-PB-13 12” wide] [T1500-PB-13 4” wide]
[T1700-PB-3 8” wide] [T1800-PB-13 12” wide] Series trench drain as per the drawing schedule, complete
with all required installation accessories including plastic end and outlet temporary caps.
Interconnecting channel sections: [glass fiber reinforced polyester] [high strength polymer concrete]
Body type: [sloped .5%] [neutral 0%]
Channel edge rail: 4 mm [galvanized steel] [stainless steel]
Grate: Load class [A] [B] [C] [E]. [perforated] [slotted] [mesh], [galvanized steel] [stainless steel]
[ductile iron] with “CLIPFIX” grate locking mechanism.

PART 3 – EXECUTION

TRENCH DRAIN INSTALLATION

Provide trench drains where shown on the drawings and install so that channel and grate are 1/8” below
grade. Provide accessories, traps, etc., as required.

Install grating and secure in place.

Protect grates during floor construction and finishing, and until adjacent construction work is complete.

Be present during concrete pours to ensure that the trench drains are not dislodged or damaged and
remain straight and true. Immediately report any problems.
