INTRODUCTION
My project is centered on how to convert
coconut and rice husks into sustainable
briquettes charcoal in Ghana
The project is a long-term project.
Specifically,the project was undertaken in
the Adansi Atwereboana community where
farming is the most dominant activity.
 The project started on 15th December,2024
with 15 people.
Although the community is famous for
coconut and rice farming, it has not seen much
economic gain from these activities.
Also, in recent years, charcoal has been
increasingly popular and highly demanded in
many large markets
These motivated me to produce briquettes
from coconut and rice husks within the
community to meet the rising demand and to
provide income and employment opportunities
to the community members. 2
MOTIVATION

People often discard the coconut

and rice husks. In tropical regions
and communities that are rich in
coconuts and rice, you can see many
coconut and rice husks piled up on
roadsides, markets, processing
plants, etc. In these places, we can
get abundant raw materials. This
motivated me to start this project.
My community’s enthusiastic
support was instrumental in inspiring
me to begin the project.

3
PROBLEM

12,240 tons of coconut and rice

husks are generated annually without
utilizing it.
Majority of the youth in the
community are unemployed and their
parents are almost all poor
smallholder farmers.
Environmental pollution and health
harzards.
Economic burden on local
communities in Ghana

opportunities to the youth in the
