Radio Functions
This document describes radio-related commands. It is split into the following major
sections.
l Radio Configuration and Diagnostics on page 27
l Radio Diagnostics and Status on page 11
l Performance Statistics on page 20
l Payload Encryption on page 7

Payload Encryption
These commands allow the user to configure payload encryption on the device.
l show payload-encryption [status] - Print the active configuration of payload
encryption for each radio link to the CLI.
l payload-encryption config link-id <secret-id(8-64)> - Set the link ID to be used for
the interface.
l payload-encryption config lifetime <days(1-10))> - Specify lifetime of the
generated encryption key.
l payload-encryption enable - Enable payload encryption for the interface.
l no payload-encryption enable - Disable payload encryption for the interface.
l payload-encryption change-key - Manually trigger an encryption key change
regardless of whether the key lifetime has expired or not.
WARNING: Since payload encryption has the ability to affect access to the unit, it is
recommend that a revert timer should be used when editing these configurations.

Command Objective
This command disables payload encryption for the interface.

Syntax

Command Objective
This command manually trigger an encryption key change regardless of whether the key
lifetime has expired or not.
N O TE: For this oper ation to r un, payload enc r yption s hould be enabled on
the inter fac e.

payload-encryption config lifetime


Command Objective
This command specifies lifetime of the generated encryption key. If no value is provided a
default of 5 days is used.

Syntax
payload-encryption config lifetime <days(1-10)>

Parameter Description
days
The number of days for which the generated shared key will be valid and after which a
new key will be generated.

payload-encryption config link-id


Command Objective
This command sets the link ID to be used for the interface. The user must specify a link ID
for each interface.
WARNING: For payload encryption to work successfully, the link ID must match the
one on the remote interface.

Syntax
payload-encryption config link-id <secret-id(8-64)>

The shared secret identifier that both the local and remote interface know and use to
encrypt traffic.

payload-encryption enable
Command Objective
This command enables payload encryption for the interface. The link must have a link ID
configured before it can be enabled.

Syntax
payload-encryption enable

aos(config-radio)# payload-encryption enable

show payload-encryption
Command Objective
This command prints the active configuration of payload encryption for each radio link to the
CLI. This includes:
l the interface name,
l whether traffic transmitted on the interface is encrypted,
l the active key ID used for encryption/ decryption,
l the chosen lifetime of the generated key, and
l the amount of time remaining until the key expires.

Syntax
show payload-encryption [status]

Radio Diagnostics and Status


These commands allow the user to configure radio protection on the device.
l diagnostic plugin-online on page 12 - Lock the protected radio path to use a
particular plug-in for a period of time.
l diagnostic rxsource on page 12 - Locks the protected radio receive path to a
single interface.
l diagnostic transmit on page 13 - Locks the protected radio transmitter path to a
single interface.
l low power monitor on page 14 - Enable or disable low-power mode for monitored
hot-standby protected links.
l no diagnostic plugin-online on page 15 - Disable locking the protected radio path
to use a particular plug-in.
l no diagnostic rxsource on page 15 - Disable protected radio receive source lock.
l no diagnostic transmit on page 16 - Disable protected radio transmitter path lock.
l no revert on page 16 - Disable revertive switching on the selected protected
interface.
l revert on page 17 - Set revertive switching on the selected protected interface.

diagnostic plugin-online
Command Objective
This command locks the protected radio path to use a particular plug-in for a period of
time. This can be used to assist when temporarily removing the unused plug-in from the
protected system.

Syntax
diagnostic plugin-online [<chassis>/]<slot> { indefinite | time
<seconds> }

Parameter Description
chassis
The chassis to enable diagnostic on.

slot
The slot to enable diagnostic on.

indefinite
Enable the diagnostic until a command to disable it is issued.

seconds
Duration in seconds to enable the diagnostic for.

Parameters
primary
Lock the receiver to the primary radio interface of the protected pair.

secondary
Lock the receiver to the secondary radio interface of the protected pair.

Enable the diagnostic until a command to disable it is issued.

Command Objective
This command enable or disable low-power mode for monitored-hot-standby protected
links. Configure the monitoring period when low-power mode is enabled.

Syntax

Command Objective
This command sets revertive switching on the selected protected interface.

Syntax
revert duration <duration> [scheduled time <timestamp>]

Parameter Description
duration
Duration in seconds before a revertive switch should occur.

schedule
Make revertive switches occur at a given time of day.

timestamp
The time of day to revert (format HH:MM:SS).

Protection type; space-diversity, hot-standby.

The following commands will create and configure a protection instance.

show protection diagnostic


Command Objective
Shows the details of the diagnostics of the protection interface(s).
For each diagnostic, whether it is active, and if so the amount of time it will be active for will
be shown. Also, the current setting of each diagnostic will be shown where applicable.

Syntax
show protection diagnostic [interface prot <interface>]

Parameter Description
interface
The protection interface index.

Mode
User EXEC / Privileged EXEC

aos> show protection diagnostic

Command Objective
This command shows information about protection interfaces.

Syntax
show protection [interface prot <inst>]

inst
Protection instance to show information about

Command Objective
This command sets up splitter physical parameters for a protected link.

protection splitter { equal <loss> | unequal primary <loss>
secondary <loss> }

Parameter Description
equal
Set the splitter gain to be the same on both paths.

loss
Gain value in dB.

unequal
Set different splitter gains on both paths.

These commands enable the user to view and configure performance statistics.
l show g826 day on page 20 - Print the specified device’s G.826 daily statistic bins

l show g826 qhour on page 21 - Print the G.826 specified device’s quarter hour
statistic bins whose start time is included in the given time range.
l show g826 realtime on page 23 - Print the real-time G.826 performance statistics
for a device.
l show rxperf day on page 24 - Print the specified device’s receiver performance
daily statistic bins for days included in the given date range.
l show rxperf qhour on page 25 - Print the specified device’s receiver performance
quarter hour statistic bins whose start time is included in the given time range.
l show rxperf realtime on page 26 - Print the real-time receiver performance
statistics for a device.

This command prints the specified device’s G.826 daily statistic bins for days included in the
given date range.

Command Objective
This command prints the real-time G.826 performance statistics for a device. Real-time
statistics are collected from power on or from the last reset, whichever has most recently
occurred.

Syntax
show g826 realtime [interface {radio [<chassis>/]<slot>/<int> |

The interface to show statistics for.

radio
The radio interface to show statistics for.

chassis
Which chassis to select.

Command Objective
This command prints the specified device’s receiver performance daily statistic bins for
days included in the given date range.

Syntax
show rxperf day [interface {radio [<chassis>/]<slot>/<int> | prot
<inst>}] [sdate <date>] [edate <date>]

interface
The interface to show statistics for.

radio
The radio interface to show statistics for.

chassis
Which chassis to select.

slot
Slot number.

int
Interface number.

The protection interface to show statistics for.

The protection instance number.

Command Objective
This command prints the specified device’s receiver performance quarter hour statistic
bins whose start time is included in the given time range.

Syntax

L1LA Lite aggregates the capacity provided on one co-path group of 2 member links

l Both links must be configured for the same channel bandwidth and modulation.

Command Objective
This command Shows the current link configuration of the radio interface. This consists of:
l radio link status
l transmitter status (whether tx factory mute is enabled or not)
l automatic transmit power control (ATPC) status
l transmit power settings
l modulation settings
l transmit and receive frequency settings
l the configured modem channel bandwidth
l the selected modem modulations
l the XPIC status
