Myth

Orpheus and Eurydice

Orpheus, son of Apollo, fell deeply in love with Eurydice, a beautiful nymph. They
married and lived happily.
Soon after their wedding, Eurydice died from a poisonous snake bite. Orpheus was
devastated.
Determined to reunite with Eurydice, Orpheus bravely traveled to the Underworld
(Hades). His enchanting music mesmerized the gods.
Hades and Persephone agreed to return Eurydice on one condition: Orpheus must walk
ahead of her without looking back until they reached the surface.
As they neared the exit, Orpheus' patience faltered, and he glanced back. Eurydice was
forever lost to the Underworld.
Orpheus lost his beloved forever, and his music lost its magic. His heart remained broken,
forever longing for Eurydice.
