The Best Christmas Gift

Once upon a time, in a small town, there lived a little girl

named Rita. Rita loves Christmas more than any other time of
the year.

She will put the balls and ribbons on the Christmas tree. She
also loves to hang socks on the window. “This is so much
fun! Oh! How I love about Christmas!” Rita said.

All of the sudden, Rita feels sad. “I miss my Mama, how I

wish she is here with me.” Rita thinks that this Christmas is
not the same as the old ones because her mother is sick and
away from her.

One night, Rita looks up at the sky and her eyes twinkles with
hope. “Oh! What a beautiful sky it is.”

Of all the stars, she saw the brightest one. Rita remembers
what her mother told her. “If you wish to the brightest star,
it may come true. “Rita closes her eyes and whispers, “I
wish for Mama to come home for Christmas.”

Days passed, and the town is busy with festive cheer, loud
Christmas carol and sparkling houses with Christmas
decorations.
Rita tries to stay hopeful, but she still feels sad. Her aunt
notices the sadness in Rita’s eyes. “What happened Rita? Is
there a problem? You look so sad.” Aunt asked. “I miss
my Mama. How I wish she can spend Christmas with
us.”Rita replied.

“Please don’t worry. Your Mama is strong. I believe she

will spend the Christmas with us. Cheer up little one.
Come and help me prepare the food.” Aunt replied to Rita.

As Rita places the food on the table, there is a gentle knock at

the door. “Rita, can you please open the door?” Aunt said.
Rita rushes to open the door and gasps in surprise. Her heart
skips a beat. “Mama! Mama!”. There, standing with a big
smile and open arms, is her mother!

“I made it home for Christmas, my little one,” she said,

giving her a tight hug. “I knew it! I knew you will come.
“Rita’s wish come true.

That night, Rita has the best gift for Christmas. The presence
and love of her mother. They are celebrating Christmas
together.
