PROLOGUE

It is dark, this isn’t the first time, I have grown used to the darkness and the terrors that accompany it.

Everywhere around me has been that way ever since I could remember, and the walls I have grown
accustomed to, the ceilings I have gotten tired of counting and the rats and roaches I have gotten used
to. The pool of blood that has become a familiar thing to me. The smell from around, the dead bodies
around me with some already decayed. The stupid clock and the way it ticks making me remember that
they will soon be here.

I can’t recollect how many days, months or years it has been since I have stepped outside. They will
come around today and use me like they always do, hitting me, cutting me, drugging me as usual and
engaging in conversations in which I do not understand.

They were here few days ago and during that time, the last two people died. They will be here today and
it will finally be my turn.

They are here, their footsteps, a clear indication that they were here but this time, they brought a girl
along.

‘She doesn’t look like one to me’ She says as she turns over to him surprising me as no one has ever
speak in English in my presence before.

He moves closer smiling devilishly before he turns to look at her again. ‘He will break by the time I kill
her, every one of them does’ he says speaking in English for the first time as he reach for another knife,
dipping it into the solution once again.

‘I won’t kill you yet but by the time I do, beg the goddess not to ever give you Andrea as your mate ever
again’ He said before stabbing my stomach, driving the knife deeper and twisting it around. His smile
never for once leaves his face as he continue his work and like every other day I don’t understand why it
is not killing me.

‘You will always be my favorite experiment, the greatest work I have ever furnished and the most
amazing art piece ever. I will give you the opportunity to meet Andrea and die in his presence. That’s my
last gift to you’ He said removing the knife watching me as the pain starts to make its appearance but
the question on my mind is who the fuck is Andrea.

He leaves but not without the drug being administered again. The lady steps forward with somewhat of
a sad smile and whispers ‘ He will save you, I can promise you that but you will cause a whole lot of
havoc in his life.’

I groan as I watch the tons of files that needed my attention, I pick up a file and heard a knock on the
door.

‘You do realize that there is a party going on downstairs’ Mom said as she walks over to me with a frown
on her face.

I shut my eyes in frustration because I know where this is leading to. ‘I told you guys that I do not like
her but you force this on me. You can’t expect me to be happy on a mating ceremony that shouldn’t
have happened in the first place.’

‘We’ve talked about this already, you are 28 and the Alpha to one of the biggest and largest pack in the
world. You can’t continue to wait for someone that you are not certain that you will meet. For all you
know, she might be dead or better still not yet born. It is for the pack’s best interest that you pick a good
and worthy Luna which is Layla.’ She said while closing the file in front of me.

‘And what about what is best for me. What if I end up meeting her and what if she has been waiting for
me her entire life?’ I asked but she only smile before heading towards the door.

‘ You will learn that the pack comes first regardless of any thing, I made that sacrifice, you should learn
to do the same.’ She said before walking away leaving me to my thoughts.
