Introduction

"Good morning, my name is Ritesh Prasad, and I am a final-year Mechanical Engineering

student at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, with a CGPA of 7.36.
During my academic journey, I have honed skills in SolidWorks, CAD design, and project
management, demonstrated through projects like a 3D printer, RC plane, and AI-powered
fruit-picking device. My internships at Banaras Locomotive Works and Diesel Loco Shed in
Siliguri enhanced my understanding of locomotive systems and automotive engineering.
Additionally, as a core member and treasurer of the college Robotics Club, I have developed
leadership and teamwork abilities. I am eager to apply my technical knowledge, creativity,
and problem-solving skills to contribute effectively to your organization."

Projects

"I have worked on several projects that demonstrate my technical skills and problem-solving
abilities:

1. 3D Printer:
o Role: Team member responsible for design, assembly, and soldering.
o Technologies Used: Fabrication tools, SolidWorks, wiring, and soldering
techniques.
o Challenges: The primary challenge was reducing the cost of the 3D
printer while maintaining performance and reliability. Designing a system
that could handle precise movements and assembling parts with limited
resources were key hurdles.
o Outcome: We successfully built a functional 3D printer, reducing the cost
significantly compared to market options.
2. RC Plane:
o Role: Led the design and fabrication process, ensuring aerodynamic
stability.
o Technologies Used: Lightweight materials, aerodynamic calculations,
and electronic components like flight controllers and motors.
o Challenges: Balancing the center of gravity for stable flight and fine-
tuning the control settings during test flights.
o Outcome: Conducted multiple successful test flights and optimized the
design for better performance.
3. V6 Engine Model:
o Role: Designed a detailed 3D model of a V6 engine using SolidWorks.
o Technologies Used: SolidWorks for complex assembly and engineering
drawings.
o Challenges: Ensuring the accuracy of components and maintaining
proper assembly constraints.
o Outcome: Developed a detailed model that could be used for academic
and demonstrative purposes.
4. AI-Powered Fruit-Picking Device:
o Role: Team member responsible for design, fabrication, and integrating AI
tools.
o Technologies Used: AI-based image recognition (YOLO, TensorFlow),
microcontrollers (Raspberry Pi/Arduino), robotic arms, and servo motors.
o Challenges: Implementing real-time image recognition for ripe fruits and
ensuring the robotic arm operated precisely. The limited availability of
hardware components was another challenge.
o Outcome: Designed a prototype capable of identifying and picking ripe
fruits efficiently.

These projects taught me technical skills, teamwork, and the ability to overcome challenges
with innovative solutions."

Internships

Here are answers to the questions based on your resume details:

Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW):

1. What were your key responsibilities during your internship at Banaras

Locomotive Works?
o My responsibilities included learning about locomotive production
systems, understanding the operation of TMS, SAS, LTS, and ROTOR
systems, and assisting in analyzing their functionality in locomotive
assembly.
2. Can you explain how TMS, SAS, LTS, and ROTOR systems are utilized in
locomotive production?
o TMS (Traction Motor System) is used for powering locomotives, SAS
(Signal and Alarm Systems) ensures operational safety, LTS (Locomotive
Traction System) manages power distribution, and ROTOR is integral to
motor performance. These systems collectively ensure efficient and safe
locomotive functionality.
3. What challenges did you face while working at BLW, and how did you overcome
them?
o A major challenge was understanding the integration of advanced
systems like SAS and LTS in locomotive manufacturing. I overcame this by
consulting senior engineers, studying system manuals, and observing
assembly processes firsthand.
4. How did this internship enhance your understanding of locomotive
manufacturing and maintenance processes?
o It provided a comprehensive understanding of the production pipeline,
from component assembly to final testing. I also learned how different
systems are synchronized to ensure smooth locomotive operation.
Diesel Loco Shed, Siliguri:

5. What specific tasks did you perform during your internship at the Diesel Loco
Shed?
o I assisted in routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of diesel
engines. I also observed procedures to enhance engine performance and
extend operational lifespan.
6. How did your understanding of diesel engine operations improve through this
experience?
o I gained insights into the working principles of diesel engines, including
fuel injection, cooling, and lubrication systems. I also learned
troubleshooting techniques for common engine issues.
7. What were the primary maintenance techniques or procedures you learned at
the loco shed?
o Key techniques included preventive maintenance, oil and filter
replacements, and inspecting wear and tear on engine components. I
also learned the importance of detailed record-keeping for maintenance
schedules.
8. Can you describe any technical issues you encountered and resolved during this
internship?
o One challenge was diagnosing irregular fuel injection in a diesel engine. I
assisted in identifying a clogged fuel injector and observed the cleaning
process to restore functionality.
