Recitation: The Great Wall of China

Dear Aiden,

Thank you for sending me your video. I am so impressed, as I can see that you have been
practising. Thank you for putting in the effort. With a little more practise and guidance, you
will improve even more. The stars are your limit. Thank you for being so open and wanting
to improve—students like you are truly inspirational.

Here are some more tips to enhance your performance:

1. "Top of" needs to be pronounced as one word.

2. Bring your fist across your chest and frown on the word "must".
3. Stretch out "till…im…" and speak it slowly to show how far it is.
4. Start rubbing your beard and thinking, making your eyes smaller as if in deep thought.
Pause, then only start saying ….. "one last and valiant effort…"
5. When you say "recall," look into the distance as though you are remembering something.
6. Emphasize "THAT" in "of THAT wall" by saying it louder.
7. You are rushing through it—slow down and take your time. Speak slower, and feel every
single word with your heart.

Imagine you are an old, wise Chinese elder looking back on this memory. Don’t rush—feel
it!

When you are done, please bow out of respect to your audience.

I am so proud of you! Keep on shining. I can’t wait for our lesson tomorrow.

Kind regards,
Teacher Lauren
