Form
Appearance:
Wren has short, wild, curly red hair that always looks like she just went through a wind tunnel. She
has a decent gap between her two front teeth, with a chip in her left one. The gap is wide enough
that she can almost put a pencil between the two and it slightly impacts her speech, but only with
“th” syllables and it makes them sound flat. Her bright brown eyes are lightly colored so that they
look amber. She has fair skin with many freckles dotting her arms and face. She has a slim frame
(arrow dynamic) that’s slightly muscled from her work with parachutes and controlling wing suits.
Wren is 5’4” and roughly 110 pounds.
Attire:
Her typical attire is pretty much just a pair of faded blue bib overalls with an army green tank top
and chaco sandals. When she gets her godly gift, she’ll have a denim jacket that’s two sizes too
big. It’s baggy with lots of pockets. She also wears a Peruvian Chakana necklace from Machu
Picchu.
Person
Personality:
She’s a small, bubbly, yet extreme character all combined into a 5’4” package. Wren loves
everything that’s exciting, and you could perfectly describe her by calling her an adrenaline junky.
The more extreme, the better. She always takes a friendly attitude toward others and seems to
have little regard for her own self preservation. She’s more of the “leap, then look” type, and
doesn’t think before she acts. It’s not because she’s stupid, even though she is and has 0 spatial
awareness, it’s because she’s too naive and childish to understand that the big world is bad and
scary and will chew her up, then spit her out. She frequently chooses to ignore things that she
doesn’t like and pretends that they’re not there in the hopes that they’ll go away. Everything else is
covered in a silver lining and she’ll be an optimist till her death. But, because of that, she has the
“can do!” attitude that some people crave, and others hate. No task or adventure is too scary or
too much for her, and her mildly stubborn nature will make her keep throwing herself at it until she
can no longer stand. If something is scary, she’ll act like a big, overdramatic red-headed baby.
She warms up to new ideas and events rather quickly and is quick to accept, but the world of the
gods is going to throw her for a loop and make her question what she sees. And then she’ll jump.
When it comes to anger, Wren is not easy to piss off. She’s slow to anger and she’ll take
everything unkind you say with a grain of salt while not even realizing you’re insulting her,
however, eventually it’ll start to take its toll on her and she’ll slowly start to droop until she’s silent
and sluggish. She’ll turn her back on you, sulk, and then go her own way, but she’s quick to
forgive and forget as long as you make it up to her.
Strengths:
+“Brave”
+friendly
+compassionate
+loyal
+resilient
+enthusiastic
+quick and nimble
+good upper body strength
Weaknesses:
-Impulsive
-sometimes overly touchy when she’s excited
-unpredictable
-obnoxious
- dumb
-no spatial awareness
-butterfingers (throw something to her and she’ll drop it)
-low dexterity/ poor eye-hand coordination, which translates over into poor skills with swords,
daggers, spears, and terrible handwriting. Stupid. Unaware
Fatal Flaw:
Childishness- Wren never takes anything seriously and everything is a game to her. She
frequently fails to realize when her life is in danger and takes to turning survival into an adventure
or a way to amuse herself instead of focusing on the situation at hand. Her toddler-like dexterity
adds to this, meaning giving her anything delicate will ultimately end up broken.
Fears/Phobia:
Deep water where you can’t see the bottom; drowning.
Backstory:
Wren’s story actually begins before she was born. In the early 90s, her mother, Wendy, was an
enthusiastic skydiving instructor. Looking for a new platform and area to start her business, she
moved to Peru on a whim. From there, she built her business, taking people skydiving as well as
teaching them the tips and tricks of skydiving and wingsuiting. Wendy’s love for the aerial arts
gained the attention of the god of the South Wind, Notus. While usually quick to anger, her
mother’s patient, yet exuberant nature calmed him enough to “settle” down with her, at least, as
much as a god can settle down. They really hit it off, and after a long relationship for a god and a
short relationship for a mortal, her mother was pregnant. She gave birth to Wren mid-flight while
flying back to Peru from visiting her family in New Mexico. From that day forward, her mother
shared her love for the extreme with Wren, and the two were inseparable. Wren followed her
mother everywhere in the sky and frequently begged her to take her skydiving.
While most parents would be reluctant, her mother had a strange feeling that no matter what,
they’d always be safe. And she was right. As time turned, Wren became a skilled skydiver and
wingsuiter, learning to expertly navigate parachutes and even hang gliders. She’s better at flying
than walking.
Growing up in Lima Peru, Wren often had the chance to visit the beaches, but her fair complexion
often left her red, and something about the ocean just seemed unsettling. The sky was so open
and free while the ocean looked as if it was ready to swallow her. In general, Wren’s childhood
was, and currently still is, very normal and average compared to some of the more complicated
demigod lives. She just likes to jump out of airplanes and off skyscrapers, that’s all.
On her 16th birthday, rather than getting a car, she got new equipment. Wren came to camp when
she was in New York, taking time off school to accompany Wendy to a skydiving convention.
Wendy, being the carefree character she is, didn’t bother watching Wren and let her wander the
big city alone. Her first contact with a monster is there, and she’s subsequently led to camp by
Marcos, son of Zeus. After staying there for a few weeks, she was eventually claimed by her
Father, Notus, while on the beach with a few other demigods. He claimed her, and then sent a
package falling out of the sky and it hit her, giving her her godly gift. She has yet to meet him face
to face. Notus was never in Wren’s life, that she remembers, but the two did meet when she was a
baby.
Wren arrived at camp July 9th, 2020 with the help of Marcos, Son of Zeus. The two met at Central
Park in New York as Wren was visiting the city with her mother to go to a skydiving convention
and business symposium. While ice cream dripped down her arm, the two demigods met and
were promptly attacked by a stampede of myremeks. While Marcos swore and cussed at the little
red headed goober as he tried to herd her toward safety and eventually drag her to Half-Blood Hill.
When they finally arrived at Camp, it took her a few weeks to be claimed and to receive her godly
gift. While at the beach, a package fell from the sky and knocked her flat, and that was when she
received Siroc.
Wren only stayed at camp for a few months until she needed to fly to New Mexico due to a family
illness and take her SAT and ACT tests. Now, she returns to Camp with an even bigger grin than
before and a desire for adventure.
Powers:
Aerokinesis (Major): Lvl 4
● Create warm, dry updrafts and breezes.
● Breathe better at higher altitudes and stay warmer easier. She’s usually hot to
the touch.
Godly Gift:
Siroc- Her godly gift is a jacket from Notus. She received the gift after staying at camp some time.
It’s an oversized denim jacket that initially appears to be nothing more than that. But, upon saying
the magic word, “siroc”. The jacket "turns" Wren’s arms into wings (it covers them) with celestial
bronze feathers. These feathers are sharp, so she can swipe at people in combat, flick her arm to
send small, sharp, celestial bronze feathers at opponents, and use the wings to act as a shield
and block attacks. Her ability to control air currents will allow her to glide on warm updrafts created
by her powers, but she’ll only be able to carry one other person during emergencies and for not
very long. Meaning, she won’t be able to fly someone farther than to get out of harm’s way.
Weapons:
Siroc. No other weapons.
Extras:
Wren is fluent in Spanish! She’ll also spit on you if you make her mad.
Wren’s twelfth birthday took place at the beach with many of her friends from school and the
neighborhood. They were playing fútbol (soccer) on the beach and the ball went into the ocean.
Wren sprinted into the warm rolling water and grabbed the ball, then threw it back to her pals on
the beach while committing the mortal sin of turning her back on the ocean. As she was wading
through the water to get back to the game, she never looked behind her once, and a rogue wave
rose over her head and knocked her down. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but as she was
tumbling in the foam, it felt like someone grabbed her ankle and tried to pull her deeper.
