1. Course Description:

This course is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of music and develop usable musical skills for the classroom teacher. Topics include rhythmic notation, simple and
compound meters, pitch notation, correct singing techniques, phrases, keyboard awareness, key signatures, scales, intervals and harmony using I, IV, and V with a chordal
instrument upon completion, students should be able to sing a song, harmonize a simple tune, demonstrate rhythmic pattern identify musical concepts through written
documentation.

Course Outcomes
In the context of the specific field of specialization, the students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate what the musical elements are in a musical piece; notation of pitch, time classification, note a values, time signature, intervals, major and minor scales and triads.

2. Analyze musical works and be able to compose a fairly simple small composition piece.

3. Recognition of major/minor modality and the role in music composition or performance.

4. Enhance interest in music.

5. Develop, lead and/or participate in a worship team that operates with humility yet is passionate and effective in lead congregation in worship.

I. Course Grading System
Student's individual grades are computed in the following manner

Prelim Grade, P.G=1/2 (CS+PE)

Midterm Grade, M.G=1/3 (PG+CS-ME)

Final Grade, F.G=1/3(MGCS+FE)

Where: PE = Prelim Grade

ME = Midterm Grade

FE =Final Grade

CS = Class Standing (60% Quizzes) + 40% (Homework, seatwork,

Class recitation, attendance and any other course projects)

Grading system : Averaging.
