GAUGE
9 sts + 18 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in Seed st

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in
the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle
or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is
not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches
and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more
stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES
1. Cardigan is worked in one piece from lower edge to neck.
2. Legs are worked separately, then joined to Cardigan.
3. Buttons are buttoned through the fabric of the Cardigan, no buttonholes
are worked. This allows a degree of adjustability, so that the Cardigan will
fit a range of sizes.
4. Note that the various breeds are shaped quite differently! Our sample
sweater fit a French Bulldog, but you may need to make adjustments to
the pattern or to the button placement to fit your dogs particular shape.
5. When you see 'work in patterns as established' in the instructions, this
means to work the next row of the pattern stitch, lining up sts as in
previous rows.
