Unit 6. Blood:
A: Okay Mr. (Ms.) .... We're almost done drawing your blood. Please hold this gauze for
a while.
B: Sure. So where will my blood go?
A: Our facility provides blood to local hospitals and surgical centers for transfusions.
B: I see. So anyone might receive my blood?
A: No, actually your blood is type AB, which means it is only compatible with other
people who have type AB. We can't give your blood to someone with type O, A or B.
B: Really? What happens if someone receives the wrong type when they are in
transfusion?
A: That can cause serious consequences, even can lead to fatal.
B: Wow. So you have to really precisely label when store it, don't you?
A: That's right. We classify and record extremely carefully here to make sure there is
no mistake when doing transfusions.

That looks like a compound fracture.
Dr.___: Are you sure? Maybe you should take a closer look.
Student: Yes. I sure, because the bone is sticking out of the skin of patient.
Dr.___: You're right. What do you think will be done in this case?
Student: I think surgery is the main treatment with the primary goal of preventing
infection. wo types of operations heal compound fractures – internal fixation and
external fixation. Both procedures use metal pins, screws and plates to hold the bone
together.
