Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for

Marine Traffic
This SOP is designed to assist in identifying and ensuring the availability of necessary
documents for various types of marine vessels, including Tug Boats, Passenger Boats,
Landing Crafts, Dredgers, Barges, and other vessels engaged in cargo transportation or
dredging operations.

Tug Boat
For Tug Boats, the following documents must be available and reviewed:
1. Towage Operation Permit: Required for vessels performing towage operations, ensuring
that towing capabilities and safety measures are adequately met.
2. Vessel Registration Certificate: A document that verifies the registration of the tug boat
with the relevant maritime authority.
3. Crew Certification: All crew members involved in towing operations must have proper
training and certification for handling tug operations.
4. Towage Contract: A formal agreement outlining the terms, conditions, and
responsibilities for towing services.

Passenger Boat
For Passenger Boats, the following documents must be available and reviewed:
1. Passenger Vessel Safety Certificate: A certificate ensuring the vessel is equipped and
compliant with safety standards for passenger transportation.
2. Crew Safety and Training Certificates: All crew members must be trained in safety
procedures related to passenger boat operations.
3. Passenger Insurance: Documentation proving insurance coverage for passengers in case
of incidents.
4. Emergency Evacuation Plan: A well-documented procedure to ensure passenger safety
during emergencies.

Landing Craft (LCT)

For Landing Crafts (LCT), the following documents are necessary:
1. Cargo Handling and Safety Procedure: A safety procedure for cargo loading/unloading,
ensuring safe movement of cargo.
2. Cargo Transport Authorization: Required to verify the type of cargo being moved and its
compliance with regulations.
3. Stability Assessment Report: A report confirming the stability of the LCT for safe cargo
movement, including weight distribution and load limits.
Dredger
For Dredgers, the following documents must be available:
1. Dredging Operation Permit: A permit issued by relevant maritime authorities for
dredging activities, including environmental compliance.
2. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA): An assessment report addressing the potential
environmental impacts of dredging activities.
3. Crew Certification: Crew members must be certified for operating dredging equipment
and following safety standards.
4. Vessel Registration and Safety Certification: Standard maritime registration and safety
compliance documents.

Barge
For Barges, the following documents must be available, depending on the type of operation
(crane, dredging, or cargo transportation):
1. Crane Operation Permit: For barges equipped with cranes, a permit is required for crane
operations, ensuring safe lifting and cargo handling.
2. Cargo Transport Authorization: Required for cargo movement, including weight and type
of cargo being transported.
3. Dredging Operation Permit: If the barge is used for dredging, a dredging permit and
environmental compliance documentation must be available.
4. Barge Stability and Safety Certification: Certification ensuring the barge’s stability and
compliance with safety standards during cargo transport or dredging operations.
5. Crew Certification: Crew members must be trained and certified for their respective roles
in handling cranes, dredging, or cargo transportation.

The availability and review of the above documents are essential to ensure that each marine
vessel operates safely and in compliance with maritime regulations. This SOP should be
followed for proper documentation and operational preparedness for all types of marine
vessels.
