INDUSTRY STANDARD FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN is a set of


criteria within an industry relating to the standard functioning
and carrying out of operations in their respective fields of
production. This is also a combination of aesthetics and user
focused consideration, and also often provides solution for
problems of form, function, physical ergonomics, marketing,
branding development, sustainability and sales.

INDUSTRY STANDARD TOOLS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN are


mainly Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and inDesign.

UNDERSTANDING THE ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES OF GOOD


INDUSTRY STANDARD GRAPHIC DESIGN (COLOR, TYPOGRAPHY,
COMPOSITION, CONTRAST AND ALIGNMENT)
COLOR: Unlike written language, color touches everyone instantly with
a wild range of feelings, emotions, and messages. color also adds a
layer of rich context.
TYPOGRAPHY: This is the practice of arranging letters and words in a
way that improves a copy’s readability, clarity, and visual appeal.it also
compromises font style, appearance, and structure, which aims to elicit
certain emotions and convey specific messages. In short, typography is
what brings text to life.
COMPOSITION: Composition gives us the opportunity to craft
experience for the viewer that effectively communicate our purpose for
the design. It is essential in creating the right experience.
CONTRAST: Contrast can be achieved through colors, size or shape.
Contrast can help viewers identify important information quickly.
ALIGNMENT: Alignment ensures that design elements are connected to
each other in pleasing way, this can be achieved by alignment of text to
the left, right or center or by aligning the text to other objects.
HOW TECHNOLOGY ADVANCEMENTS ARE INFLUENCING
STANDARDS IN GRAPHIC DESIGN
Rapid advances in onscreen software also enabled designers to
make elements transparent; to stretch, scale, and bend elements; to
layer type and images in space; and to combine imagery into complex
montages.

PHOTOSHOP)
Adobe creative suites provides apps service, and resources for all your
creative projects, photography, graphic design, video editing, UX
design, drawing and painting, social media, and more.
The adobe collaboration tools; Adobe Acrobat is one of the most
powerful, agile, and versatile collaboration tools a team can have at
their disposal.
ADOBE INDESIGN is a desktop publishing software application
primarily used to create print and digital media layout.
ETHICAL STANDARDS: SUCH AS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY,
INCLUSIVITY, ACCESSIBILITY, AND SUSTAINABILITY IN GRAPHIC
DESIGN.
Ethics in graphics design encompasses various aspects such as honesty,
respect for intellectual property rights, and avoidance of misleading or
deceptive practices. By adhering to ethical standards, designers can
ensure that their work is responsible, truthful and respectful.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: The IP in print is the actual creation (i.e the
unique combination of colors, patterns and words) that the graphic
designer used their mind to create. When the customers ( in this
situation) buys the print, they aren’t buying the IP because the graphic
designer who created it is the owner of that IP.
SUSTAINABILITY: The aim sustainable design is to create spaces that
have a more positive impact on our climate, environment and society.
Sustainable design requires an awareness and in-depth understanding
of the role design plays in climate change, environmental impacts and
sustainability.
INCLUSIVITY: Inclusivity in graphic design describes the methodologies
to create products that understand and enable people of all
backgrounds and abilities. It may address accessibility, age, economic
situation, geographic location, language, race and more.
ACCESSIBILITY: Accessibility in graphic design in mind ensures that your
content can be understood by as wide an audience as possible.
Designing for accessibility in other words means being inclusive to the
needs of your users.
