Material Management

1. Material Master: Material master is a storage of information about the materials


in that company.

Material type: It is a group of material having similar attributes.

Material group: It is a group of material having similar properties.

Configuration of Material type and Material group:

Creating Material Type:


IMG menu Spro→IMG→Logistics general →material master → Basic settings
→Material types

Copy the standard material type (ROH) and select copy as…

We can change the material type as per the requirement and select the check box if
number range required as external, once save then our material type will create.

Click on groups, and at the top click on group and select as insert.

Now material group and number ranges has been created.

Now assign material type to material group.

Double click on material type (ZASH) and select the check box for material group
(ASHR) and at the top click on element group.

Now Material type is assigned to material group.

Define Attributes of system messages:

In this configuration we can change the messages types like error msg to warning msg.

Below is the screen we can change the message types.


Based on the message number we can identify the changes.

Define output format of material numbers:

Here we can increase or decrease the material character length.


In SAP maximum character length is 18 character.

Here we can also change like (TEMPLATE) as material number.

Creating material group:

Click on material group and select the new entries, name the group then save it.

Creating Division:

Click on division and select new entries and fill the required division and save it.

In this node only we can create the laboratories, storage conditions, temperature
conditions.

Define structure of data screens for each screen sequence:

Select standard screen sequence (21) and click on copy as.

Here we can change the screen sequences.


Select the screen sequence and click on data screens.
