Read the playscript and answer the following questions

Scene: The Factory and Beyond

Stage Directions: The stage is split into two sections. On one side, the dimly lit factory with the sound of machines
clanking in the background. On the other side, a small, poorly lit room representing RAVI's home. The transition
between the factory and home is seamless, showing the interconnectedness of RAVI's struggles.

Factory side: A row of children, including RAVI, are sitting on wooden stools, stitching fabric under a harsh
fluorescent light.

RAVI (muttering to himself, sewing): One more hour, RAVI. Just one more hour.

MR. PATEL (enters, clapping hands): Hurry up, kids! Orders need to be ready by tomorrow morning. No slacking!

RAVI (to himself, whispering): My hands hurt. But I can't stop. PRIYA needs food.

Stage Directions: RAVI winces as he accidentally pricks his finger with a needle. A small drop of blood falls onto the
fabric. He hurriedly wipes it away.

MR. PATEL (noticing): RAVI! Faster! I don’t pay you to bleed on the goods.

Stage Directions: RAVI nods silently, his face downcast, and continues stitching.

Home side: PRIYA is sitting on the floor, playing with a broken doll. ASHA is cooking on a small stove. RAVI enters,
tired.

RAVI (entering): MAA, I’m back.

ASHA (turning, concerned): RAVI, you look so tired. Did you eat anything?

RAVI: There wasn’t time, MAA. MR. PATEL was watching us like a hawk.

PRIYA (running to RAVI): BHAIYA, did you bring anything for me?

Stage Directions: RAVI takes out a small packet of biscuits from his pocket and hands it to PRIYA.

RAVI: Here, PRIYA. It’s all I could afford.

ASHA (sighing): RAVI, this isn’t the life I wanted for you.

RAVI: I know, MAA. But we have no choice. I’ll keep working until things get better.

Factory side: The sound of machines stops abruptly. ANJALI enters with two police officers.

ANJALI (addressing the workers): Stop working! You don’t have to live like this anymore.
GRADE:7 [ENGLISH] 2 FA -2 REVISION WORKSHEET
MR. PATEL (angrily): What is the meaning of this?

ANJALI: MR. PATEL, you’re under investigation for employing children illegally. These kids deserve education, not
exploitation.

Stage Directions: The police officers begin taking notes and speaking with the workers. RAVI looks at ANJALI,
unsure.

RAVI (hesitant): Ma’am, what will happen to us?

ANJALI (kneeling to RAVI’s level): Don’t worry, RAVI. We’ll help you and your family. You’ll go to school, and your
mother will get support.

Home side: PRIYA enters the factory area, clutching ASHA’s hand.

ASHA: Is it true? Will my children finally be free?

ANJALI (smiling): Yes. We’re here to ensure they have a future.

Stage Directions: The scene transitions to a brightly lit classroom with children laughing and learning. RAVI sits at a
desk, writing in a notebook. PRIYA sits beside him, coloring. ANJALI stands in the background, watching with a
smile.

RAVI (to PRIYA): This is what freedom feels like, PRIYA. We can dream again.

Stage Directions: The lights dim, and the sound of children’s laughter echoes.

Curtain falls.
