Step 1: Understand the Goal

 Objective: The writing task involves creating a 10-scene

comic strip about planning an event. The goal is to
incorporate:

o Future tense for describing plans and predictions.

o Modal verbs to express possibility, necessity, or advice.

o Phrases with make and do to describe actions and

tasks.

o Adjectives with prefixes and suffixes to add

descriptive detail.

o Complex sentence structures to show relationships

between ideas (e.g., conditionals, relative clauses).

 Task: You need to plan the event step-by-step through

dialogue and narration, using the structures and vocabulary
mentioned above.

Step 2: Take on the Role

 Role: You are a language learner practicing writing. Your role

is to write conversations (dialogue) between two characters,
Maria and John, who are planning an important event.

 The dialogue will reflect real-world tasks and problem-solving in

event planning, where the characters discuss tasks, challenges,
and solutions together.

 Use your creativity to think about the types of problems they

might encounter while planning and how they can solve them.

Step 3: Identify the Audience

 Audience: Your audience for this writing task is:

o Your teacher (or examiner), who will evaluate your

ability to use future tense, modal verbs, adjectives, and
complex sentence structures in context.

o Peer learners (if it's part of a group activity), who will

read your comic strip and provide feedback.
 Write clearly, using appropriate language for B1.4+ learners.
Make sure your sentences are grammatically correct and
detailed enough to show your understanding of the task.

Step 4: Understand the Situation

 Situation: Maria and John are organizing a large event and

must handle various aspects like:

o Finalizing the guest list.

o Booking a venue.

o Arranging catering.

o Planning for unexpected problems (e.g., weather, delays).

The dialogue will show them discussing how to manage these tasks,
solving problems, and making decisions to ensure the event goes
smoothly. Each scene in the comic strip will feature a conversation
about a specific aspect of the event, such as confirming details or
making plans for the future.

 Example Situation: Scene 1: Maria and John are discussing

the guest list and deciding on the final count. Scene 2: They
debate the backup plan in case of bad weather. Scene 3: They
discuss food options and confirm catering details.

Step 5: Plan the Product (Comic Strip)

 Product: The final product will be a 10-scene comic strip that

contains dialogue between Maria and John.

o Each scene should have a clear theme (e.g., confirming

details, discussing challenges).

o Ensure that the dialogue:

 Incorporates future tense (e.g., "We will...," "We

might...").

 Uses modal verbs for advice, necessity, or

possibility (e.g., "You should...," "We could...").

 Includes adjectives with prefixes and suffixes to

describe tasks and outcomes (e.g., manageable,
unpredictable, impressive).
 Has complex sentences that show the relationship
between ideas (e.g., "If we don't send the
invitations soon, we could miss the chance to invite
important guests").

Step 6: Add Text and Dialogue to the Panels

Once the comic panels are drawn, add the dialogue text:

 Make sure the text is legible and fits within the space
without being too crowded.

 Use speech bubbles for dialogue and thought bubbles if

necessary for internal thoughts.

 Ensure that the grammar structures you planned are

included in the dialogue.

Step 7: Revise and Edit

 Step 1: Review Your Grammar and Vocabulary:

o Check for correct use of future tenses and modals.

o Ensure you’ve included a variety of adjectives with

prepositions

o Check the complexity of your sentences to see if they

reflect a B1+ level.

 Step 2: Ensure Clarity:

o Make sure that each scene is clear and that the dialogue
is easy to understand.

o Look for any areas where you could simplify or improve

the sentence structure.

 Step 3: Edit for Creativity:

o Ensure that each scene is creative and demonstrates a

variety of planning tasks.

o Think about how you can add extra details to make the
event planning feel realistic.
Step 8: Final Product (Comic Strip)

 Complete the Comic Strip:

After reviewing and editing, finalize your 10-scene comic
strip. It should have:

o Clear, logical dialogue between the characters.

o Correct usage of the target language (future tense,

modals, adjectives, complex sentences).

o Creative, realistic event planning content.
