GENERAL NOTES FOR LANDSCAPING
1. The developer shall replace any damaged, dead or missing parkway trees.
2. Parkway trees shall be planted in compliance with Village of Addison’s “Standard Specifications
for Design and Construction”, Ordinance No. O-05-98, Section 900. Parkway trees shall be
provided at a maximum spacing of 40 feet (minimum 2½ inches in diameter). Maintain a
minimum of 6 feet from any driveway to a parkway tree.
3. Parkway Trees shall not be a monoculture of Maple trees. Use alternative salt-tolerant tree
species from the list of acceptable trees in the Village’s Subdivision Control Ordinance, such as;
Hybrid Elms, Catalpa, Kentucky Coffeetree, etc. Ash species (susceptible to disease), Honey
locust (large portion of our parkway tree population) and, although listed in Section 902.2, shall
not be used in parkway tree plantings. Substitute other acceptable tree species for ash and Honey
locust, such as Shingle oak, English oak (non-columnar), Schumard oak, Liberty elm (Ulmus
americana libertas), Accolade elm (Ulmus Morton), Autumn Blaze maple (Acer x freemanii), or

4. After a tree has been set, the top 3/4 of the wire basket and associated burlap shall be
removed, with the remaining burlap loosened and scored so as to provide the root system
quick contact with the soil. All ropes or wires shall be removed from the root ball and
tree trunk.
5. All off-site and right-of-way restoration work shall be restored with 6 inches of topsoil
and sod.
6. Detention areas shall be sodded to the 100 year high water elevation.
7. All on-site construction areas which are disturbed shall be restored to their original
condition with 6 inches of top soil, seed and mulch.
8. All slopes which are to be grassed after construction and are at a 5:1 or steeper slope,
shall be sodded and staked instead of seeded.
