THE CHRISTMAS STORY: JESUS, THE PERFECT GIFT

“For a child has been born—for us the gift of a son—for us! He’ll take over the running of the world. His
names will be: Amazing Counselor, Strong God, Eternal Father, Prince of Wholeness.” Isa. 9:6 (MSG)

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name
shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" Isa. 9:6 (NKJV)

GOD’S FALLIBLE CREATION

Jesus was not actually born on December 25th. He was most likely born around two months
ago, around the time of the Feast of Tabernacles. But we can be thankful that God has given us
a day to celebrate Jesus’ birth.

God gave us free choice. He will not use His power to affect or influence our free choice. We are
a free, moral being. God didn’t want to create robots to worship Him. He wanted us to choose
to love Him out of our own free choice. We are free to choose, but we can’t choose the
consequence of our choices.

Adam and Eve had access to everything good in the Garden of Eden. They were free to enjoy
the lavish abundance there. God made man last during Creation so that man could enjoy
everything that He had created.

God made one tree called the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. He told Adam not to eat
from that tree, if not he would surely die. Death is something foreign - God did not design man
to grow old and die. God calls Death an enemy.

God’s dream is to make man the recipient of all His blessings.

God created the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil so that man could exercise his free
choice. If there was no alternative choice, free choice wouldn’t be true.

Satan was an outlaw spirit and he had no jurisdiction on earth at that time. Therefore, Satan
possessed the body of the serpent and tempted Adam and Eve to eat the fruit from the Tree of
the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Adam and Eve ate, fell and Death came into the world. Man bowed his knee to Satan and gave
the earth to Satan. The earth which God gave to man was given to Satan.

When you follow God you will always win. Satan can never beat God. Before the earth was
created, Lucifer rebelled against God and was cast down to where the earth was and banished
from heaven.

Lucifer was very jealous because the earth was his domain before he fell, and now God had
created man to dwell in his domain. God told Adam and Eve to replenish the earth. That means
that the earth was once ‘plenished’. Lucifer and his angels once dwelled on where the earth
was.

No one actually forces us to do anything. Even being angry is a matter of choice. When Adam
sinned, he said “the woman you gave me made me eat” - he blamed God and Eve at the same
time. Eve blamed the serpent. We tend to play the ‘blame game’.

God made man from the dust of the earth. God breathed a spirit into man and he became a
living being. When man dies, his shell of a body returns to dust, but his spirit lives on forever
and must be housed somewhere - either heaven or hell.

Genesis 3:15 - This is the first prophecy in the Bible.

At the cross, Jesus crushed Satan’s head and Satan bruised Jesus’ heel. Jesus was hurt in the
process of defeating the devil. For God to create man, He only had to speak. For God to redeem
man, He had to bleed. Jesus is the prophesied ‘Serpent Destroyer’.

“I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring.
He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”” (Genesis 3:15 WEB)

Jesus is the only One who could choose where to be born: either in a palace or in a humble
manger. As He removed His royal regalia, angels looked on and worshipped Him. The Infinite
became finite, in a baby’s body.

SATAN KEPT TRYING TO PREVENT JESUS' BIRTH

Under the Law, a sinner would bring an unblemished lamb to the temple. The sinner’s sinfulness
would be transferred to the lamb upon laying his hands on the lamb’s head. On the other hand,
the lamb’s righteousness was transferred to the sinner and he walked away righteous before
God. It was not a true payment - it was a payment by credit. The true payment was paid at the
cross by Jesus’s death. (show video clip)

Satan is not omniscient (all-knowing). He thought that Abel was the prophesied seed who
would destroy him, so he incited Cain to kill Abel. However Abel wasn’t the one that God chose
for the seed to come through. Don’t follow Satan or yourself - we are just finite beings.
God is all-knowing. Follow Him!

Jesus, the Creator of all beings, Who holds all creation together, was held in the arms of a virgin
woman as a vulnerable baby.

God did not send Jesus to teach men morals and commandments. He sent Jesus to be a Savior -
not a judge or lawgiver.
THE VIRGIN BIRTH - GOD BECOMES A MAN

Jeremiah 22:30 - From David’s lineage came an evil king called Jehoiachin. He worshipped false
gods and practiced child sacrifice. From Jehoiachin came an evil king called Jeconiah. God
cursed Jeconiah’s house to have no heir. “childless” doesn’t mean having no descendants but
having no heir.

“Yahweh says, “Record this man as childless, a man who will not prosper in his days; for no
more shall a man of his offspring prosper, sitting on David’s throne, and ruling in
Judah.”” (Jeremiah 22:30 WEB)

Isaiah 7:14 - Mary was probably only 14 or 15 years old. They married very early in those days.
Jesus cannot be born from Joseph because Joseph’s blood had sin and his house was cursed
when God cursed Jeconiah’s house.

Science has discovered that not even a trace of blood comes from the mother when a fetus is in
a woman’s womb.

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14 WEB)

Jesus was the only One born King. Royal sons are usually born as princes.

The very first question God asked man in the Bible in the Book of Genesis is “Where are you?”
when He said that to Adam. (Gen. 3:9)

The very first question in the New Testament is “Where is He, born King of the Jews?” in the
Gospel of Matthew. When you find Him, you will find you. (Mat. 2:2)

Matthew 2:3-12 - Five times the passage says “the child and his mother”, not “the mother and
her child”.
As a child, Jesus is born. That’s his humanity. As a son, Jesus is given since He always existed.
That’s His deity.

“When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Gathering together all
the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ would be born. They
said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is written through the prophet, ‘You Bethlehem,
land of Judah, are in no way least among the princes of Judah: for out of you shall come a
governor, who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’” Then Herod secretly called the wise men, and
learned from them exactly what time the star appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem, and said,
“Go and search diligently for the young child. When you have found him, bring me word, so that
I also may come and worship (proskuneo) him.” They, having heard the king, went their way;
and behold, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, until it came and stood over
where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
They came into the house and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and they fell down
and worshiped him. Opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and
myrrh. Being warned in a dream that they shouldn’t return to Herod, they went back to their
own country another way.” (Matthew 2:3-12 WEB)

The Devil tried to kill Jesus by pushing Him off a cliff through the people pressing against Him,
but no one can take Jesus’ life from Him. He laid it down willingly.

If you declare that you have no sins, you have no title to Jesus. Jesus is only Savior for people
who have sins.

On the cross, Jesus took our sins and laid them on Jesus, and they were all punished in Jesus’
body.

We’re not washed by our good works, morality or by our own blood. Only Jesus’ blood can wash
us from all our sins.

Jesus is the only One who could choose where to be born: either in a palace or in a humble
manger.

As He removed His royal regalia, angels looked on and worshipped Him (Phil. 2:6-11). The
Infinite became finite, in a baby’s body.

Nicodemus, a spiritual leader of Israel at the time came to Jesus by night and wanted to know
how to be saved.

Jesus told him that he needed to be born again by the spirit. We need to be born again by
believing in Jesus as our Savior; if not, we won’t be able to see the kingdom of God.

GOD GAVE THE LAW SO THAT EVERY MOUTH MAYBE STOPPED AND ALL THE WORLD WILL BE
GUILTY BEFORE GOD AND SEE THE NEED FOR JESUS.
